Introducing the eleventh entry in my new lore/future plot threads series. Let's explore the vast legacy of the dwarves, their fallen, underground kingdoms, and whatever else awaits this diminished race in the Dragon Age. These set of videos are going to be full of spoilers as I delve into particular honed-in lore that is rather telling for the future narrative of Dragon Age! You can catch up on all the previous episodes of The Road To Dragon Age 4 here: kzbin.info/aero/PLXNz-vptG-rsbw6ZIGp17HE7mDof_jshF

Great video, one other thing that was interesting about the Primeval thaig was that the Claws of Dumat are there

Kal Sharok, that's enough to bee said. We really need to know whats going on there and with it's dwarfs, The dwarfs are generally underused, everything revealed in The Decent was some of the best reveals in the entire series.
@sithmaster43053 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if its a direct need in a main game maybe a DLC but I agree the dwarven people are definitely the least used in the series the Qunari not withstanding because they're intentionally not stirring the pot with anyone but the imperium.

It would be really interesting to see Sandal in the next Dragon Age as he was always an enigma in DA. When he became lost and they found him with dead bodies all around him, some frozen in motion. He would be a fabulous and interesting character to get to know and even have dealings with in the next Dragon Age.
@debbyalo42443 жыл бұрын
Also, while a lot of that killed bodies can be explained by Sandal killing them using some enchanted rune, he specifically says "not enchantment" when asked about the frozen Ogre. So what he did? Used magic? Someone saved him as they are costantly whatching over him? I have questions!
@davrosdavros71983 жыл бұрын
Would’ve to know what sandal really is. I don’t really believe he’s a dwarf . I think he’s a god/something that magiced themselves into a dwarf ( there was an episode of dr who where the dr hid his own memories to hide from the bad ones)
@Maxbeedo23 жыл бұрын
After that description of the Kal Sharok merchant in DAI I've always connected them to Utha from DAO:A and possibly The Architect, as perhaps either they became blighted defending themselves from constant Darkspawn attacks or they intentionally blighted themselves (more so than Grey Wardens) as a "mask" so the Darkspawn would leave them alone. The whole city might be "functioning, sentient darkspawn", and it would be a very interesting and creepy place to visit. Given the more pressing problem of Solas, it makes sense to include them as a way of touching on the Darkspawn theme without having a whole Blight/Archdemon muddying up the antagonist space.

I'm excited to learn more about the dwarves in the next game. Especially the ones from Kal-Sharok. I think those are the most interesting. I'm also looking forward to learning more about their connection to the Titans and whether reforging that connection will give the Dwarves magic of a sort. As for the next game, if we're going up against Solas, who has god-like power, maybe having a Titan on our side would be a good idea.

I really would love a spinoff game in the Dragon Age 'verse centered almost entirely around or in the Deep Roads. Whether that be a member of legion, a warden, or even a single dwarf on adventure or perhaps searching for the titans or a corrupted titan. I absolutely love the lore and vibe of the Roads and would definitely enjoy it. I think if this was done, however, it would be better suited as a spinoff game rather than a next chapter just because of the singular focus. Thanks so much for the awesome video, Jacksaw, love your content as always and love the effort you put into them!

Dwarven Ambassadoria in Tevinter. Should be interesting to see how they live and what roles they fulfill. Maybe even an origin story for the new protag.

I have a theory on how Solas is able to kill dwarves in their sleep. Similar to the cure to tranquility actually. Where he directs a spirit to the mind of a dwarf and has them given a connection to the fade temporarily then killing the dwarf before the connection fades. We have seen Anders use justice to give his friend back his connection to the fade albeit it only lasted like 10 seconds, which is probably more time than Solas needs, and we have learned that seekers gain their abilities by becoming tranquil and having a spirit touch their minds. So if a spirit can be made to see and touch the mind of a tranquil, who has no connection to the fade, surely someone like Solas could direct a spirit himself to give a dwarf a connection even if it is temporary.

@Joachim Huniche With the difference between tranquil and dwarves having being emotions it makes me wonder if them being the children of the stone/titans has anything to do with why they have emotions despite being disconnected from the fade. We know that dwarves have no connection. But what connection do the titans have to fade? With their blood being basically liquid magic (Lyrium) they likely had a very strong connection to the fade since (I may be wrong so feel free to correct me) it is where magic seems to stem from. If Leliana was killed in origins the one we see in inquisition is a Lyrium ghost. Perhaps the titans made the dwarves in a similar manner to that version of Leliana. As she was still able to express emotions despite being a Lyrium ghost. According to elf lore Mythal also took physical form only after slaying a titan. Most likely forming that body out of Lyrium. Since Mythal was a spirit before taking physical form she had innate connection to the fade. Dwarves on the other hand were not. They probably had their bodies made similarly but with nothing to tie them to the fade. Hence why they don't dream. Or maybe this was all one huge stretch and I'm crazy lol.
@COMMANDERSARGE13 жыл бұрын
Very plausible, however, given the tranquil had previously had connections to the Fade you could look at that as a restoration of their connection. Given that dwarves have never previously had a connection, there would be nothing there to restore. So maybe the method would be different?
@Vespiria673 жыл бұрын
@@COMMANDERSARGE1 Well mage's enforce their will onto reality using magic (where as templars are stated to reenforce reality to counteract magic) so perhaps anyone with sufficient magic and willpower could cast such a spell to force a connection onto even a dwarf since they are only partly resistant to magic and not outright immune to magic. So it stands to reason that a spell that could do such a thing, although it would still probably be very difficult to do, could still affect them if such a spell can be done.
@alainecollins65323 жыл бұрын
The thing is, I believe Dwarves once had a connection to the Fade through their connection to the Titans. When the Titans were killed or basically entered Uthenara, that connection was severed. It's been thousands of years since then, and I feel like the loss of emotions in Tranquil is directly related to the shock of the cut connection that they've known for the majority of their lives. Dwarves have had a couple thousand years to develop from those Dwarves that were directly severed from the Fade.

Of all the origin gameplay, it was the dwarven lore that fascinated me most. So thank you for this peek at them through your eyes :D. I won't lie... this made me resent the elves a bit. If you haven't made a deep dive into the dark spawn yet, I'd be interested in what you have to say about them. Dragon age V: Clash of Gods and Titan Origins!

Just a few days ago, while playing DA2, i found a golem that said "the Stone lives beneath Orlais" and then a few nanic words. I was wondering what that could mean🤔 beautiful video Jack! Thank you as always!
@ignazthesecond72313 жыл бұрын
Well from reading in the internet, it means that maybe the titan/stone is possibly healthy beneath orlais? like not corrupted? Also his mumbling says: "athas gar na fornen pa salroka atrast" which one great guy translated to "I regret the sacrifice of my kin, at my side find your way in the dark." hope this helps, if im wrong im sorry :)

Regarding Sandal...a new thought just occurred to me even if its wrong. What if Sandal is connected to a Titan...but its asleep, or has since died? It would explain his strength and power and his apparent prophetic ramblings. If he is connected to a sleeping titan than just like a person who is half awake he's just kind of stumbling through life because his consciousness, and memories are linked to something that simply isn't fully conscious. Or if it died the memories he had of the titan went with it leaving him with his adopted father shortly after. This may also lead up to some sort of idea of how strong he is with his runes.

That a very good theory I agree that does sound like the most likely. One I have heard

I've always been intrigued by lyrium and I'm glad it has become important to the plot (I LOVED how they handled it in DAI, especially with the Red Templars) . While in DAO the Deep Roads were tainted and terryifing, the Deep Roads in DAI were dark, yet full of secrets about the Dwarven Lore. I'm so curious about the connection between dwarves and Titans. Playing as a dwarf in DA4 would be so interesting, for sure.

I really want the Titans to have their justice tbh. The elven pantheon have destroyed enough. The dwarves deserve to know their true ancestry and origins just as the elves do. I hope that there will be a focus on dwarven history and Titans in da4, and not just laser focus on Solas.

My first thought when I heard "scaled ones" was the qunari. Since legend has it they had dragon in them or so iron bull theorizes. And they changed alot (or so its theorized) from the people they came from. So maybe at one point they looked more dragon-like than they do now, invaded the south and then retreated. And only emerged as the qunari we know today after the qun was established

With the constant mentioning of "singing" like with lyrium, darkspawn/taint, spirits, and the chant of light, it gives me some flashbacks to Drakengard and Nier series.

Just had a thought that the casteless tattoos tie into elven vallaslin. A symbol of basically belonging to one God or another. And I still staunchly stand by my belief that Sandal was a lost Sha Britol child and that's why he's so good at manipulating lyrium, and it's implied that he hears voices (the Stone speaking), performs magic without enchanted items, and possibly even dreams.

I honestly love the way they've intertwined the dwarves and the elves, and I seriously hope this ends up being a huge part of DA4. In the first two games, the dwarves always felt a little boring to me, not so different from dwarves of other fantasy settings. But I love how much depth they've gained through Descent, and there are so many mysteries to look forward to! I assume Descent and Trespasser are kind of mean to share similar importance for DA4, which gives me a lot of hope. If Valta isn't in DA4 I'm going to be so disappointed!
