The best part about his music is that he does like l i t e r a l ly all of it. Maybe with the help of a producer occasionally. But you know that the songs are special because they are coming from him. Mannnn when I met him it was fully one of the best days of my life. My girlfriend bought us tickets on my 20th birthday. I was in the front row at the show. I have never really been star struck before... but I have been listening to him since I was like 15. If you haven't seen him live yet, when this Covid shit is over, buy a ticket.

Jack, do you remember Longitude 2017 in Dublin, playing with Mumford and Sons? I was working. Myself and you simultaneously ran to the same portaloo and had a "Whoah, who goes first?" moment. We chatted and you were so nice mate. But you had to jump on stage so I let you go first 😉 I was trying to switch stages during the day so I could catch your set, I missed it. But had I caught your set, we wouldn't have met. This sounds like a love story. Shit. What am I trying to say? You're a legend mate. I'll never forget that. One of my favourite moments ever. Great tune man, Jack is back. Stronger than ever.

A great name for a song "Better" and a great message in these troubled times, "if I can take something and make it feel better, when I'm feeling down, everything else will work itself out".
@kaiejohanson16354 жыл бұрын
Jack Garratt said about "Better", "It's a song about the claustrophobia some of us feel when confronted by daily reminders of how a change outside of our control is coming, and how we force ourselves into repetitive sequences of familiarity and nostalgia to feel safe again." - from azlyrics. Wouldn't say it's a great message, but rather brilliantly thought out lyrics
@beaubatten24754 жыл бұрын
Actually, sadly it's a bit more pessimistic than that, though I think the actual lyrics give more weight to the meaning of the song. "Oh, if I can take something To make me feel better than I’m feeling now Then everything else will work itself out Everything else will work itself out" (from Genius) I interpreted the message as more of a commentary on both a feeling of helplessness and the inaction that comes with it, as highlighted by this; "I’ll sit back helplessly and watch the world descend Into chaos curated by suited men And they all look like me" (from Genius) and; "Everything else will work itself out I don’t care I'll just keep my head buried under the ground And wait for everything to work out" (from Genius) Though I heard that last bit as; "I don't care how Just keep my head buried under the ground"

I feel really bad because I misjudged this song big time. When I first heard it I was like meh... I expected more of Jack. And it just hit me, it's 2AM and can't stop listening. Brilliant. He's so talented it makes me wanna cry 😂
@TH-pj3zv4 жыл бұрын
You know truly, I feel the same. If I'm being 100% honest - When I first heard it on the radio I felt disappointed, I absolutely love what Jack had made before and didn't feel like this was up to his 'usual standard'. I feel disgusted and incredibly guilty for thinking that kinda way. Once I listened back to it on KZbin a few days later my whole perspective completely changed... Now I've heard the words, properly, worth his incredibly talented production - well like you said above, it just 'hit' me.
@kamufi_music4 жыл бұрын
@@TH-pj3zvSorry my english is shit i also heared it on the radio the first thinge i thaught about is the melodie and the lyrics. these 2 dosent match. normaly when the melody ist happy the lyrics gives us a happy story. But here its totaly diffrent the story is very sad tbh. hes basicly someone with a kind of depression or a other illnes (dont know which on). Hes trying to treat himself with medication (probaly drugs) so he can "feel better". He also thinks that other people judge him all the time so for him being normal he needs pills to get social reconizion "Oh, if I can swallow something Then people might like me better when I choke it down". But in the end the medication he needs for his facade hes building up is to much to barry so its breaks down. You know that becuase in the last few stanzas he just repeats the same line over and over again with the line itself being shorter every time: "Everything else will work itself out "Everything else will work itself out" "Everything else will work its- Everything else will work its-" He also is falling on the floor in the video so that also proves my point. So yeah i love the song for the lyrics :D

"Whilst", has this word had a major comeback, or has it always been something middle class broadcasters used in the UK? I started noticing "Whilst"('s) much more frequent use very heavily in the last 5 years. I notice it somewhat frequently being used as opposed to almost never, in British vioce overs 10-15 years ago; also the Germans seem very keen on it(even whilst writting and speaking German). So is it snobery, or social class? My gut feeling/theory is no matter what country your in, your not going to hear a Long Shormen or a Truck Driver say the word "whilst". I am just guessing, I have done no research whilst coming up with this half-baked idea(s). Let me know what you think, I know it's an old word, I have noticed it in a 1940's Sherlock Holmes movie, whilst it was on TV. Thanks,Dk from the USA🇺🇸🇬🇧

Just like that. Tomorrow will mark a year since the posting of this absolute masterpiece. Love, Death & Dancing is truly one of the most beautifully thought out creations I've heard in many years. This song and the entire album has truly helped lift me during the uncertain times in this pandemic and has been a tool to help me cope with mental health. The lyrics are wonderfully written and the compositions are just out of this world. Jack has really injected the true meaning of how music should be. So much depth, energy, rarity and exquisite talent has been showcased perfectly in all aspects of his work. I cannot wait to be able to see him live someday and I would welcome him with open arms to perform in Cornwall. Thank you for making me fall in-love with music again and have the courage to start singing, even if it annoys the neighbours. Music has always been my therapy which was lost along the way somehow. But Jacks music has brought it back to life and for that I am forever thankful. :)

I never comment on shit but I think Jack has been crazy smart in the way he's approached his new music. He's managed to create a pop theme that the big wigs upstairs want but actually provide a meaningful experience through his lyrics. On top of that, he's still managed to throw in some alternative vibes with a few drops here and there. His music video is also fire. I'm into it.

"Everything else will work itself out." Instead of changing the things that eat away at himself, he chooses to consume the things that make himself feel better in the moment. In the beginning of the video he is content dancing the night away..... at the end he dances in agony, no longer satisfied in the moment. Can you apply this concept yourself? Are you dancing instead of changing the things that eat away at you? I recognize I am guilty of this. For the sake of something higher than my current self, I have the will to change. I have faith that you too will discover this will. Together we will change the world, starting with ourselves.
