The scene with Jackie and Max Cherry definitely filled in a blank for me as far as Sheronda goes. The part when Max Cherry goes to Ordell's house and Sheronda was on the couch I always thought she was high off something but I wasn't sure until this deleted scene that Max confirmed she was a junkie.

@@Wh4L205I mean, I get it. It’s meant in the broadest, most generalized way. It’s the third lowest grossing movie of his career, I believe. Only Reservoir Dogs and death proof were lower. Any list of his top movies usually don’t include it at the top. So that’s why people say it’s underrated. Obviously there are people like you or me who really appreciate the flick. But I also get why someone would say it’s underrated

I like how they reveal how Winston finds people, that was missing from the movie originally. Small details like that is why I love deleted scenes. U find out more about the story overall through details that skipped out on.

Jackie trying to get a little more information out of Sheronda was interesting and could have been left in. It is like she is probing to learn a little more about Ordell's living arrangements, and perhaps to check whether Sheronda even knows what she is getting into.

The scene between Jackie and Max in the motel room IMO should have been left in - showing the two conspirators plotting their next move. It filled in one of the few blanks the film had.
@JDHawk74 Жыл бұрын
I think it would have hurt the movie as it takes away all the surprise. I liked not knowing what was going to happen when they got to Max's office.
@stevekaczynski37936 ай бұрын
@@JDHawk74 It also makes Max clearly complicit in luring Ordell to his death. In the released version it is more Jackie setting Ordell up and Max is a little taken aback by her ruthlessness. Here he is obviously involved. It was better leaving this deleted scene out.

one of the best overdelivering styles of Tarantino was the example the scene with Simone. The stereo equipment was plain and out there to be seen so the viewer who either isn't paying it mind will ignore it but to the viewer who sees that as unusual will certainly ascertain that's some of Ordell's illegal inventory in his side rackets, and as illegal as it is, Ordell is still a businessman and it's debatable if there's a firm line between doing business legal or illegal between businessmen, but he's got all the makeup of a professional ordinary businessman.

Read the book this movie is based on, Rum Punch. It takes place in Florida instead of SoCal and is much more detailed. However this is one of the rare instances where the movie is much better than the book. Enjoy.

I just finished reading “Rum Punch” and to be honest I was underwhelmed by the book. Maybe I need to read all of his novels from beginning to end to get a better understanding perhaps. Anyway, I recently watched this film for the thousandth time and I see how Quentin has made Leonard’s book come to life. This is my favorite film of all time for many reasons. About these deleted scenes…there’s actually more deleted scenes that’s not featured. You can see in the documentary on the film there’s a scene with Jackie and Melanie, Jackie has on the red dress. Also in the documentary the very last scene that was filmed was Jackie on the plane being a flight attendant, not sure what that scene was. I wish we could’ve seen it!
@mrbrownroyyal6 ай бұрын
@user-tz1zo6nu3n I hear you on that! Quentin is very much so LA. I live in Los Angeles so I actually like LA settings. Perhaps I need to read Leonard’s other novels because Rum Punch was underwhelming to me.

I've been looking for the clip of Ordell and Jackie sitting eating rice from Teriyaki Donut. Interesting name of the enterprise, the donut is just so random and picked out of a hat. But we see clearly it's a take out meat and rice business when we get a shot of the styrofoam bowl with the soy packets. Makes me even more curious about if they actually would in that fictional world serve donuts and coffee.
