I see why this scene was deleted, but the girl really didn't bother me with her eating, and she did fine. But people are right when they say it wouldn't fit anywhere. I also don't like this scene cause it contradicts the relationship Mr. Orange has with Mr. White for the rest of the movie. Pointing the gun at his mugshot, discussing his past with his colleagues, it was good to keep it out. Plus it takes away from the real point of the movie, which was the job itself.

Interesting stuff, I think the main point is that Orange really couldn't properly feel what was gonna happen until it did- notice his uncaring attitude to White, but more key is his apparant lack of fear- which isn't true in the end, he'd have to be mad, he just hadn't really thought through how hard his job would be. You can see through his reactions in the film when White kills the cops only then did he really realise what he was involved in.

Really enjoyed this scene. Ignore the pomposity of the people below me; the people who pretend like they have some stranglehold on good acting. Maybe she isn't the best off set, and maybe it took her more takes, but in these final scenes, she plays that certain type of girl perfectly. You know, the one who is perhaps less jaded then she should be -- or maybe more. Anyways, would have like to see this scene find its way into the film. Also, taking this scene out was sort of a huge missed beat. It showcases Freddy labeling Larry as a cold-hard criminal and not as compassionate human being, and it's that lack of humanity that he expects to see in Lawrence Dimick but gets it spit back in his face when he realizes that the only one on his side -- the only one helping him and holding him as he bleeds -- is the main guy he's trying to put away.

The only reason I think this scene didn't fit is that it gives too much away. Also it bugs me that Freddy dry-fires his weapon at Larry's mugshot, not only is it bad form but I just don't see that level of animosity being appropriate given his obvious sympathy for Mr. White. I like McClusky, though, and it was fun to see Freddy & Holdaway interacting especially the part where Holdaway grabs a cigarette out of Freddy's shirt pocket lol.

It’s interesting watching this from 0:15 and wondering if there’s a cut before the camera tracks in front of the mirror. There isn’t and the only way I can assume they did it was by knocking a hole in the wall and framing it like a mirror so what what you’re actually seeing is then room next door and not the reflection. You can tell mostly because when the camera tracks all the way round the continuity of the room doesn’t match the room that Freddy is in.
@thesuperstar62569 жыл бұрын
The scene was right to be deleted because the cops were after Joe, not Mr. White. Also (and don't quote me on this), Mr. Orange didn't find out Larry was Mr. white until after he became undercover.
@DistractedGlobeGuy9 жыл бұрын
The fact that they were after Joe doesn't mean they wouldn't have wanted Mr. White to testify against him-the only real plothole is that White didn't say his name was Larry until after Orange got shot, but even then, Orange wouldn't have necessarily had to know his name to get his hometown's files on him.

I watched a video of Tarantino claiming that he once had trouble getting a great performance from some lame actress. He said that he gave her food because people seem to act more “natural” when eating apparently. He also said that that was his first “director trick”. I think this scene is from that moment he was referring to...
@haskapaska5 жыл бұрын
Actors eating is troublesome because you may have to film that scene many times. Acting that you are eating is harder than one may think. In Road to Perdition where Tom Hanks and Tyler Hoechlin are eating at a diner. Hoechlin (child actor at the time) had ice cream so he just ate like normal kid would eat ice cream - with awe. Unfortunately they had to film that scene many times and actor became sick. Meanwhile experienced Tom Hanks played around with food and takes very small bites. Pulp Fiction breakfast scene: John Travolta just seems to cut pancakes so he doesn´t have to eat them and Samuel L. Jackson acts like he is drinking coffee (small cup without any coffee) In Alien Resurrection, Dan Hedaya felt sick after eating multiple lemon slices when he had to act just eating one slice. One of most funniest eating scenes in a movie is Eric Bana´s monologue in Black Hawk Down. He chews one small bitefull of rice for few minutes while talking at the same time. I think it helped him with his fake american accent. Bana at the time just came from Australia and BHD was his first movie in Hollywood

I FOUND THE ADDRESS FOR THIS LOCATION: 8200 San Fernando Rd. at the intersection of Sunland Blvd. in Sun Valley, CA. The burger shack is now a Mexican restaurant called "Robertiroz." I like this scene, but I'm glad it was excised; Orange's story was overlong enough with the commode scene & the background taints White: the voice of compassion & reason becomes a violent cop-killer, ruining our sympathy for him. McCluskey would also ruin the established all-male dynamic, albeit unintentionally.

This is pure gold! Especially since watching & loving this movie all these years! Does it belong in the film? That’s up to debate I guess, some may feel it is, some not. I’ll admit it would seem weird to have this scene included after all this time, it just wouldn’t feel right but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate seeing it. It’s like the scene in “The Godfather” where there’s a scene that shows Michael asking Vito about Sonny, & telling him that he didn’t give his “word” like his father did that he wouldn’t do anything about it to nobody. Never put in the movie even though it was filmed & I’m not sure if it ever was an extra scene in any DVDs. About what the lady cop said about this Dolan guy & what happened to him. It’s kinda rough to say that Larry would’ve been responsible for doing something like that. He’s too smart to do dumb shit like that & like he told Pink “I ain’t no madman either” unlike Mr. Blonde & that would be too far out there to say that Larry did kill Dloan & a bunch of innocent civilians over spite. As he stressed “I”m a professional” & professionals don’t do mad dog punk stuff like that, even Mr. Blonde wouldn’t have done something crazy like that, so that part of it I”m disappointed in. Don’t know how the rest of you feel but feel free to respond.

+rightsman123 I've noticed in this movie that all these scenes that were deleted needed to be. That's very good considering that this was an early point in QT's career. In some movies, scenes are deleted only because of time restrictions while in other movies, they don't delete anything when they should. Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong comes to mind.

Cute but yes, kinda wrong for this role and this flick. She's the sister of Casey Siemaszko, the short guy from Young Guns.

Goddamn, the hate is strong in these comments! To be honest, I kind of enjoy this scene. I liked the girl character, I mean, she's obviously no Mr. White or something, but she's good. She has a tomboy-ish attitude, and I liked that. It didn't look forced, like a girly girl trying to act like a cop, it seemed natural. I also liked the part when they talked about Larry, it made him seem like a hardened criminal when really he probably isn't, because of the way he treated Mr. Orange in the warehouse. I disliked the beginning when Orange points a gun at White's photo, and pretends to shoot it, because it sort of changes the relationship Orange and White had, it makes it look like he was only friends with him to kill him. I also disliked the scene when they talk about the undercover cop, it foreshadows the ending. Overall, I liked this scene, and the movie would still be great with or without it.On a side note...the girl is beautiful! Her hair is ideal, and she sure rocks a coral leather jacket.and on a different side note, the way orange said 'shut the fuck up' reminds me of every guy in my grade for some reason.....

2:10 is interesting because the camera angle gives the actress time to spit out into a bucket or napkin what she just put in her mouth so she can keep talking. Actors HATE eating on camera, and generally whenever you see someone "eat" something, there's a cutaway to allow them to spit it out so there's no chance of their swallowing messing up their dialog or the flow of the scene.

I love how there's no shit talking 15 year olds in the comment section. All really valid observations. I think this scene was meant to deepen the relationship between White and Orange for the purpose of making when he reveals that he's a cop to White more impacting. And also to add more dimension to the friendship that ends up developing between them, overall. It creates conflict within Orange. And you know what, I think it does a great job of accomplishing all of those things. The problem is that there's just not enough other material in the movie to flesh that angle out any further. It feels out of place.

Fun fact: Reservoir Dogs has zero lines for women in the entire movie... unless you count the noise of that one lady getting shot as a line. I don't know if that makes it better or worse that there WERE some lines for a female in the movie... but they were left on the cutting room floor

This scene is well-written, but unfortunately she's really overdoing the cheeseburger (not her fault, I'm sure that's what he told her to do. Nina Siemaszko is a good actress). And the whole Mr. Orange section stops the movie dead in its tracks long enough that anything more would just make the audience restless to get back to the warehouse. We already know Larry hates cops so any further exposition is overkill. I'm glad this scene exists, though.
