Great retrospective. The police story film are great films to watch when I was a teenager back in the late 00s.I always hoped that Jackie Chan's character and May remained together. Since we don't see her in part 4. That could imply they broke up in 4. The reboots are good but don't reach the heights of their 80s counterparts. Please review The Blade from 1995. It is a remake of the Wuxia class, ''One Armed Swordman''. It is a very dark and intense film. Some critics call it a deconstruction of the wuxia genre.

Yeah, through the 70s and i think up to the 2000s he had a sponsorship with Mitsubishi, which is why almost all of his HK films would feature their vehicles

First strike needs the "Warner archive collection" treatment like there release of Mr nice guy.warner archive release has the uncut version of Mr nice guy. And the new line cut as a extra. I feel it would be nice if rumble in the Bronx and first strike need that treatment. And thunderbolt also why not. Digital version (vudu at least)of thunderbolt seems to have a different dub than the new line release. Likely the original export dub. And is cropped to pan and scan(4x3 tv aspect). But I like looking out for these kind of dubs.

First Strike was the first Jackie Chan movie I saw and I got to see it in Theatres. I became a massive fan since that. I've seen all the uncut versions. A lot of chan fans do seem to prefer the originals more than the US Versions. I do hate that the US versions cut scenes, especially when they are from fight scenes. I don't mind that the aquarium scene was cut down though. But, I think New Line Cinema and Dimensions films massively improved his films when it came to the soundtrack, sound design, and film transfers. I remember seeing the uncut dubbed version of Operation Condor and thinking the music sounded like carnival music and I did not like the dubbing of Jackie's voice. It's interesting that when you reviewed operation condor you preferred the dubbed version that I didn't like. It's cool either way. It's like watching a different movie when you watch a different version.

I actually haven’t done a vid for Operation Condor yet 😅 that may be someone else. I’ve only seen the original sub and later US dub. I’m hoping that eventually I’ll get a region free BR player so I can pick up the new OC release from 88Films, as a channel I follow has been doing reviews of them and they all seem very stellar.

@@dr_mafoony oh ok. Yeah someone does a similar style review of Jackie chan movies (oliver Harper). Yeah the 88films look awesome. I know a few people that are working on those 88films re-releases. I hope one day all of JC movies get uncut releases in the US.

I have no idea why police story 1 and 2 are together. Yet, no police story 3 (a.k.a supercop) I always am dumbfounded by that.

I think it may be a rights issue, I think dimension films or whomever releases the US version SuperCop is the current rights holder for the western territories like USA and Europe, since I was able to find the 1,2 and 3 together on sets released in Asia.

I actually thought it was at 480p when I uploaded it but i guess I was wrong 😂 had no idea how rough some of this looked on desktop. It probably didn't help that a lot of the sources I pulled for clips where on the lower end of quality. Hopefully I'll be better at this in my next one
