The French lyrics were written specifically for Jackie by international star Lara Fabian who wrote the song originally in English, "Broken Vow", changing the message of the song for her. Who does that for a 10 year old? Jackie owns the song in that sense. "Imaginer" is on her album, Dream With Me.

Did Foster even submit it for Grammy consideration? If not, why? It reached #2 on Billboard's DVD chart in 2011 which is a category for Grammy awards. Just the fact that he got this kind of performance from an 11 year old girl should have been enough. Edit: Checking out the current info on Grammy categories there were several categories that were still open in 2011 to nominations for either the album and both Foster or Jackie individually. A couple didn't even need a specific music genre. Makes you go wth?

There are many good child singers and we say how good they are for their age. Then there is Jackie. It is her light and shade, her vocal ability When she sings in another language it is perfect. He ability to interpret the emotion from each song is something even many adult singers can't grasp. Perhaps most of all, it is her respect for each song. It is like she has delved into the background and meaning of everyone, enabling her to tell the true story. That is why she is always going to be remembered as the best child singer ever. And now she is all grown up nothing has changed. He interpretation of songs is breath taking.

I can't agree that nothing has changed. Since her late teens, all her performances I'd seen were well sung, if not sounding belittled by her. She seemed to be "cruising" through, not dynamically accentuating parts of songs like she'd done as a child. Her dynamics aren't the same. It's all very mellow & overly soft ALL the time. Yes, something has changed.

Some things have changed. Her voice is more powerful and mature. It's easier for her to hit both low and high notes making it seem like she isn't trying as hard. That's because she doesn't need to. If anyone says she's lost something just go and listen to songs like 'A Million Dreams', 'She Used to Be Mine' & 'Another Day'. She still closes her concerts with a combined 'O Mio Babbino Caro/Nessun Dorma' medley that is majestic.

Several people have expressed a desire that Jackie sing "Broken Vow" now that she's "old enough" to relate to the lyrics/story. Given that Lara Fabian re-wrote the lyrics in French especially for Jackie, "Imaginer" belongs to her and will always be associated with Jackie as a positive message. This performance is historic in several respects and will be forever nostalgic and subsequent performances are treasures in themselves as well. She recorded "Apocalypse", which is an original given to her of a broken relationship. I'm satisfied with that.

I've never seen any of her 3 PBS concerts repeat broadcast on PBS in the almost 7 years I've followed her. It was an amazing roster of top musical talent that David brought to Jackie's performances. Conrad at the piano, Chris on his trumpet, Lara re-writing her "Imaginer" for age appropriateness, were just a few of many examples. We are indebted to David for using his clout to muster top-tier support for a little girl who proved to be such a rare talent.

Bruce, Chris Botti accompanied Jackie on her recording of "Danny Boy", but did not participate in this concert. Conrad Tao was the only guest musician in this concert, accompanying Jackie on this song, besides the Asian Drum ensemble for "Lovers". Jazz trumpeter Jumaane Smith accompanied Jackie live on the song "The Summer Knows" for her PBS "Music of the Movies" concert at age 12, and also international violinist, Caroline Campbell accompanying Jackie for "My Heart Will Go On".

@@cl9786 Also worth noting: Chris Botti did do the trumpet accompaniment for The Summer Knows from the Songs From The Silver Screen CD, while, as you noted, Jumaane did the Concert version. In addition to piano for Imaginer on the concert & CD versions Conrad also played the violin for Dark Waltz on the Dream With Me In Concert and the CD version. Of course David Foster played piano for all the Dream With Me In Concert songs except Imaginer, but it isn't clear if he actually played piano on the CD version. While Caroline played violin for the concert version of My Heart Will Go On, it was Joshua Bell on the CD version.
