I agree 100% w Jackie. When I began to thirst for God HE made the gospel of Jesus relevant. They way Jesus lived is the only application example we need. When we start making ourselves the center of it it becomes polluted.

Preach Mrs. Perry!!! The word of God never fails. All of this creativity with social media, lights and dress code is irrelevant to the effect of the gospel. I had a surgeon say to me once, "God is making the human body the same way He always has". People need to hear the truth and it doesn't need to be sugar coating and sprinkles.

God is infinitely interesting...it is a sin to preach a boring sermon. We must study, know Him, search the word, pray earnestly.......the flock NEEDS to know and know DEEPLY the Christ of the gospels. Thank you for always accepting invites JHP ......never turn down an opportunity to reach people with the precious truth you bring.......Coram Deo.

for me as a millennial - I often felt like religion is just rules and more things being preached to me about what I need to do and haven't done or shouldn't be doing - kind of like more commands and areas where I don't measure up I think more millennials and even gen Z need to hear more about God's love and approval and feeling accepted and important and valued for a while to build a good solid foundation to then move on to eventually changing and improving even in terms of church music or Christian music - I'm not big on the having so many slow or sad gospel songs - I prefer upbeat and lively songs that make you want to really join in and have them sung by people in way that everyone can join in there are some singers that are so talented that I feel like I can't sing along but just listen like a concert and less like something I can take part in even if some of the appeal to church is mostly to get some of the younger crown by praise through music they will come to see the good in the rest too a lot of the younger generation struggle with anxiety too and having so many people surround you can feel overwhelming too I don't know how to combat this area but it should def be considered though ( I struggled feeling like no one loved me but also it was tough to have so many people at church ask me so many questions and overwhelm me with so much information all at once) another thing would be that you'll hear sermons on you should be doing such and such but you don't know how. I often find myself asking "but how?" I think that comes from not understanding how to go about it but also how does that apply to my life (like how in my circumstance would I do that or what should it look like?)

The only source and future of the Lord's church is Him. He says to all of us (whatever generation, all generations), "COME TO ME". So may we all come to Him, grow to know Him in our relationship with Him and from that posture He grows His church (us/His disciples) will be grown and matured in and by Him.

My sister attempted to model the Titus section by sharing her wisdom with younger women. At first they were excited, but she found that the people who needed that person to come along side did not want it. She gave up after a while because she could not find a young person who was remotely interested in the wisdom of elders.

I'm between Gen X and Millennial. I prefer biblical exposition, that is, line by line bible study in context. I don't care too much for topical sermons applying old stories and prophesy to Isreal or specific people to my own current problems. I didn't know churches that stick to biblical exegesis existed until I was 39. My Gen Z daughter prefers Christ-centered solutions to everyday life stuff. Basically, she wants to learn how to handle emotions, friends, stress, etc from a Christian persepctive. She's looking for direction while I'm looking to know Him better.

The Word says, he that wins souls is wise. The hypocrisy of the parents and some church leaders have tainted the Gospel of Christ. Many have experienced or heard of church hurt, that they shun Christians Jesus does not need us to dress him up to draw anyone. Just lift Him up in within our selves, then the light will draw those from darkness.

I'd hoped the discussion would have addressed how the Church is impacted by the pandemic. Maybe not so much in America? but in some parts of the world the lockdowns, curfews and restrictions directly affect church attendance and complacency. In southern Africa we are fighting to keep the physical church buildings open for this generation and the next. Governments try to argue that churches are "super spreaders" (we strongly disagree) but they fail to see that our restrictions in Church related activities correlates to a rise in social issues, mental health issues, etc. Church is MORE relevant than ever before, people are desperate to be in the presence of God. We need to be able to go out and live out our Christianity and reach people in a tangible way.

First thing is first. Are we truly saved 😔. What does it mean to be saved in Jesus Christ. What is the church? The living word of God! We need to stop playing church. And truly be saved in Christ. Stop talking and truly start walking in the word. Live the word putting down the things of this world. Its moment by moment, precept upon precept. The church lost Jesus Christ a long time ago. We need to live the word, walk the word. Believe in the word. We cannot serve 2 entities. It's either Jesus Christ or Satan. We need to make up our minds. A double minded man, is unstable in all his ways. 👋🏾

@bjteacher3721 Жыл бұрын
It's not our life that we need to see in the Scripture; we need to see Jesus. I can't change my life on my own, but Jesus can change my life. One of the biggest problems in the church today is a focus on "us" or "the self." It's okay to hear Bible stories and not see ourselves in them. Where we can all see ourselves (since we're looking for ourselves in EVERYTHING) is in Jesus--in what He did on the Cross. It was our sin that He had to suffer and pay for.

Coffee shops is never and will never be the methodology for Church growth and sustainance. The Holy Spirit is and will always be the solution for Church Growth. Solution driven church. They can do all the studies, with all their innovation, JESUS will build the Church and the gates of Hades will never prevail against it. As long as the men and women of revelation are there, JESUS is building. There will never be hopelessness in the building of the Church, if we follow JESUS'S methodology.
