​@@andresvalverde5182 This is currently alt-history / Calradia - if we move to a European Map it will mos tlikely be in sub-mods, or it would also be alt history with historical sub mods to follow. Greek city states will be part of the mod. Athens, Sparta, and even Macedon are planned. By the time we are done, we will have enough assets for many sub-mods.

The Rome 1 music is the perfect cherry on top. That soundtrack brings me back to my childhood. Discovered that game when i was like 10 and it was such an incredible experience. The world felt so huge and complex. Definitely made a huge impact on me growing up.

It looks like they used designs from total war arena. This opens up a lot of new faction ideas. I wish they made the Punics spearmen instead of swordsmen though, that's more of an iberian/italic thing.

The Punics are actually Spearmen, but because spears suck in bannerlord, they refuse to use them. And yes, the armors and stuff are heavily inspired by TW Arena. They have very good concept arts

Yeah Italic warriors would look better in the game than imperial legionaries, especially with the other modded factions being from that era.

As soon as he started talking about Persia I had this horrible vision of a giant awful 300 style Bannerlord mod with Imperial romans fighting extra-exotic Carthaginians, 90% nude Spartan body builders, and bizarre inhuman caricature Persians. Please oh please god, don't let it happen. (AAAAAAAAAND there we go. 15 minutes in, lorica segmentata. ugh.) Also not a fan of the zebra striped linothorax armor, and the successor purple/blue helmets.

Most of the assets for Carthage here are recycled stuffs from the scapped game Total War Arena. Some ppl even got to play with these very same units and assets for a few months before the game's death. So CA did actually commission artists to do zebra and leopard armor. Go figure :)) .

The mod is set in Calradia - and is not meant to be historical. Consider our first mod, Eagle Rising, as an asset / code producing factory for our future historical sub-mods.

It’s not a historically accurate mod, it’s a historically inspired(and accurate to the time period in which the equipment is from) mod.

True, but it seems jarring and hopefully does not put the Carthaginians at a disadvantage in terms of stats. For that reason, I wouldn't want to pit an armored Roman cataphract from the 4th century AD against a lightly armored Greek horseman from 200 BC, or a 16th century knight wearing full Gothic plate armor against a classical era Roman.

@@Intranetusa Dont worry, all faction are going to be unique and balanced. While carthaginian infantry might have a disadvantage against roman Legionarys, will carthage get as example War Elephants which can be decisive. They also have better slingers and skirmishers. Factions will always feel different in their gameplay design.

@@Intranetusa Fair enough and I agree, but I would say they are based from the same “Ancient” time period vs your example which has a medieval cavalry unit going against an ancient one. The mod does balance it out though so no one faction feels overpowered.

It doesn't matter about the content and the amount of men or armor if the battle itself is poor. We need them to hire the guys who created the battle from games like Vikings Battle for Asgard or Kingdom Under Fire The Crusaders. Where every individual soldier was fighting one soldier ... Then 20 guys rushing one dude.

IT'S SAD that the Taleworld engine cannot handle 20.000 troops on battlefield, instead of 2000. I mean, total war engine is doing almost the same job, but with 10x more troops. The mod looks amazing.

There’s a lot more detail in Bannerlord, for one, and as soon as you zoom out from the troops in Total War, they get very simple and not very detailed. The Total War engine wouldn’t be able to handle all those troops if they were constantly fully rendered. Bannerlord also probably has a decent bit more code running during battles.

True, but Bannerlord has far more complicated and ai intensive battles. It's easy to have 20000 clones, hard to have 2000 independent moving models

I’m pretty sure Bannerlord could 100% render 20,000 troops. The issue is that ever soldier in bannerlord has its own complex AI, controlling what they do. Total War has each unit with its own AI. And each unit has like 100 soldiers in it.
