I believe Alice had said in an interview that one of their favourite scenes from this season was the one at the end of this episode. Something about how the conversation is a key turning point in Nick and Charlie understanding each other on a deeper level. It’s such a sweet moment. Also yes I’m sure Joe was over the moon at finally getting some screen time with Olivia!

Just in case you missed it, just as Nick and Charlie hug each other, a very despondent looking Ben walks past them at the 7:10 mark here on this vid.

That moment they shared on Nick's bed is my favorite after the final scene of s2. The way they as actors make you feel present in that moment. I love it. I love them. I'm charlie and I'm looking for my Nick Nelson.

This episode was so emotional for me because of the parallels with Kit's real life and his forced outing. I wonder if he felt some catharsis doing this season. And don't worry about bad comments! Remember most viewers like your videos just how they are :) You're one of the reactors I like to watch because you have also read the books and react to the show similar to how I did, wondering which parts of the book are going to show up when.

I felt the same way about Kit. Reading this in his teen vogue interview with Joe was really healing. "For a time, Connor found himself on a parallel journey with his character, but it's not lost on him that while Nick was able to come out to people on his own terms in season one, in real life, Connor felt forced to out himself. “There were definitely points where I was doing season two and saying certain lines, and I thought, This is good, this is how it should be. This is the message that we want to be sending.” In one scene, Nick says to Coach Singh, “None of the guys know about me,” to which she replies, “Well, you don’t owe them that information, okay?” Later in Paris, Elle tells Nick that you don’t always need to understand artwork to enjoy it. It’s true of life too, he says: “You don’t have to understand your feelings completely to know that you like something. You don’t always have to have figured everything out. You can just feel.” “The show we're doing is really setting blueprints for people to know how to treat these delicate situations, and how to make people feel safe and comfortable,” Connor says. “It felt like certain people didn't quite understand the show and the original message that we were trying to portray in season one," he adds, echoing his tweet. "So if that's the case, then we'll just keep hammering it home in season two and hope that people listen.” Reflecting back, he says, “It's regrettable what happened to me. I think it was a bit disappointing. The reaction that I got in just trying to be myself and trying to discover myself and putting boundaries up. But despite that, I was still happy.” Connor is so much more than that tweet, more than the sexuality he never wanted labeled in public, more than the character we see onscreen. “If people can take something positive out of it, if it's benefited anyone, then that's great,” he says. Perhaps now that there is a label for that, the world can find other words to describe him: diligent, reflective, kind."

I saw a photo of a clapperboard when they shot this scene and it was actually about 2 weeks before he was forced to come out, so the entire conversation with Charlie and Coach Singh hits very different and even harder...

I’m worried about Tori. It’s very clear she is not ok. She doesn’t have the friend group or support that Charlie has. She can tell that Charlie is putting on a front and isn’t ok and she isn’t coping well. Other than the first episode when she smiles at Charlie and Nick hugging, I don’t think there’s a scene with her where she doesn’t have tears in her eyes. Also people always talk about how great Nick and Charlie’s communication is but only Nick is good at communicating. Charlie lies and obfuscates all the time. He’s never really honest with his feelings unless Nick really pushes him. It’s sad.

Thank as always. I do think every episode gets better and better this season. I was a little hesitant after episode one and then episode two is kinda heavy, like episode 7 last year (“Bully”). But episode three is getting us over the hump and then we get to go to Paris! So many great scenes, in this episode, getting caught making out in the equipment room, the coach coming out to Nick, Isaac and his new friend in the library, Charlie reassuring Tao after the date disaster. Again, as you’ve said, so many great examples of people supporting their friends, communicating, expressing love and support. I often feel in these scenes that Alice is speaking directly to the viewers, reassuring them, reminding us all that we are loved and supported.

I think the pressure from friends from both Elle and Tao and Tao trying too hard to make it a perfect experience for Elle are why their date failed. Just need to let things evolve organically. Stupid Ben and his brother getting in his head causing him to doubt his feelings, identity and struggle coming out. It is such a great progression into the series. I hope season 3 isn’t it’s final season. Very eager to read vol. 5 😅.

The book at the top of the display is “ACE What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex”, by Angela Chen. Through her own experience and the experiences of other ACEs, she explores what it means to be asexual. It illustrates the varied experiences of Asexuals in the context of their other identities; in the context of societal and cultural norms and expectations; how society views asexuals; how that feeds back into the asexual experience; and what all of this tells us about how society views sex and sexuality

Love your reactions! Idk that I can say anything that hasn’t already been said about this show but it makes me so emotional. So many put it down as unrealistic bc it’s not sexually explicit. But I think media has brainwashed us and that this really is one of the most honest portrayals of what first love is really like. Awkward, sweet, nerve wracking. It really makes me nostalgic for being 16😢

Honestly I believe that And most of the people saying that are not exactly high school age Like I can count on one hand the people I went to school with that we're actually sexually active Most of my friends didn't start having sex until uni I sure know I wasn't ready for that at 16
@tova1412
@tova1412 Жыл бұрын
I think the people that complain about that forget how young these people are as well... like yeah, Nick is 16 and I guess that's the averge age for it (even though I'd be willing to bet the majority of 16 year olds aren't sexually active, including me back then) but there's also the fact that Charlie was literally 14 just a few months ago... that's /young/ young. sure, there are 14 year olds that have sex, but that's definitely not the norm and it shouldn't be seen as unrealistic for teens 14, 15, 16 or whatever age to not have sex. the fact that that's something people complain about is weird to me not only for those reasons, but also, there's loads and loads of teen shows where teenagers are having sex... so if you feel more represented on screen with shows like that, then go watch those shows. no need to complain
@bluflavouredpudding

@@tova1412 actually, the AVERAGE age for people to start having sex is 17 Which means there's a lot of people doing it after I truly don't understand the obsession with teens having sex
@tova1412
@tova1412 Жыл бұрын
@@bluflavouredpudding ah sorry, 16 is the average here in Sweden apparently, which now that I'm googling about it is definitely among the youngest averages! most seem to be 18 (including both UK and US) but yeah, depends on which study you read I guess. either way, both Nick and Charlie and all the other characters too are below the average age so people calling it unrealistic are definitely just basing it off their own experience or other TV portrayals of teenagers and sex (which doesn't exactly have the best track record of being very realistic), oooor they just want sex scenes? but yeah, I'm right there with you, truly don't understand the obsession with it.

I agree that no one owes anyone information about their sexuality. BUT Nick is in a relationship with Charlie, and what Charlie wants and needs is also important, not that Charlie will *ever* put himself first. It's such a difficult situation, all around. On the Tao & Elle front, it is true that Tao tried too hard. But I am disappointed in Elle. She was being really stand-offish at the theater and really wasn't trying to meet him halfway. Like he tried to hold her hand, something they've done on numerous prior occasions, and she didn't even hold his back. They're best friends! She could have just pointed out that he was trying too hard and suggested another date that both of them would enjoy.

Sadly, here in Florida (as well as several other states in the US), the "save the children" crowd are banning discussions of LGBTQ existence at all grade levels, even high school. This will actually cause more harm to children by making those who feel different in any way more vulnerable to bullying and self-hatred. I knew I was different by the time I started Kindergarten, and growing up in the 80's and 90's, had no LGBTQ education what-so-ever aside from flippant "jokes" by the adult men in my life until I was finally able to come out. I dealt with a heavy case of internalized homophobia throughout my 20's and 30's, only now becoming much more at peace with myself. I'm fortunate that I never had to deal with any outright hatred from anyone in my family, but there are so many others that don't have a safe space at home. I feel that providing LGBTQ education, even for younger ages, would help not only those who need it to have resources to seek out desperately needed safe spaces, but also teach those who don't how to become those safe spaces themselves.
