I just LOVE the walk back to their hotel room at 16:57 - it is such a simple scene with no context needed for the plot, but it is so lovely seeing Nick carry Charlie back to their room. Reminded me of the London Pride 2022, when Kit and Joe re-created the illustration of Nick and Charlie at Pride, with Nick carrying Charlie.

Regarding Isaac's storyline, I think one of the most poignant moments is one often overlooked because it's super subtle, but him saying he doesn't have a celebrity crush and Imogen immediately going "everyone does" hits me so hard. As someone who used to fake crushes growing up and now that I know the truth about myself as acearo, has a very different definition of what a celebrity crush is compared to my friends. The moment goes by so quickly and is overshadowed by the rest of the game, but it's one that has stuck with me deeply since seeing it.
@JackieRossLavender

It stuck with me too and that's exactly why it was a nonnegotiable to not get cut from the KZbin edit of this video.

I completely agree. As a parent I make sure I never assume my children will 1) date some of the opposite sex. I say person if there is a discussion and 2) never assume they will date or love someone if that is not in the cards. This show (and books) has been very helpful with that.

This reminds me of how "involved" my daughter's dad is...he thinks he is father of the year and sees her maybe once a year at best growing up...she's an adult now so she moved out, and she knows better...but the damage is done...his loss truly because she's simply amazing 💖

This comment kinda makes me wanna cry 💔 I'm 31 and I stop trying a few years ago ... But for about 5 years I tried making plans with my dad and getting him involve in my life. I tried making him part of my life and the things I enjoy. I wanted him to hug me like when I was little and I even told him and he said "how am I gonna hug you? You are 31yo." I use to cry at nights. Then I realized it's not me the one that have to look for that love. I shouldn't (no one should) beg for love. You shouldn't have to look for the love and attention of a father ... I needed to talk about it, sorry about the long comment. But reading yours made me realized that it's him the one losing the gift of being parte of my life

@@conobravomolina8726 Absolutely! I know it hurts, and I know nothing will fill that void, but when you understand that the failing is utterly on his side and not on yours, that can be healing. You may be focused on the hugs you missed out on, but think of all the incredibly hurtful words he didn't have a chance to say to you because he kept you clear of his disastrous parenting skills. I hope you find your worth elsewhere, because he's not able to, nor is he worthy of, giving that to you. Here's a virtual hug from me!

The recharging line is my favorite as well, in the whole series. It just makes my heart happy. I loved Season 1 (was a bit obsessed with it) but I actually think I like this season even more. It’s more mature and the character growth is so well done.
@elisabethbauman6190

I love that line, too, and it was filmed beautifully! I find it particularly impactful because I'm not a hugger and don't particularly enjoy contact, which has been a problem in my romantic relationships. I can see it now - I can see the appeal and how meaningful it is. It's been really illuminating to watch Nick expressing his love for Charlie through the love language of physical touch, which was obvious in the comics but has been brought to life so compellingly through Kit's performance.

Your comment about the happy birthday song made me laugh out loud. I come from a family of musicians, and when our extended family gets together, we sing. No shyness, 4-part harmony, sounds like a choir. Then I go to other people’s houses and experience the horrendous happy birthday song and want to crawl into a hole. How can so many people not even carry a tune?! 😅

I do find it interesting the contrast between Ben and Harry at the party, Ben sneaks in, doing what he wants without permission, Harry knocks, asks to come in and gives an apology, I really liked this contrast and I'm so here for Harry's growth. Also, completely agree Mr Farouk's actor is incredible and stand out. I'm obsessed with his facial expressions in his vulnerable moments. So much about him is the male version of me, I love his character so much.

I'm crying all over again over Isaac. Sorry, I comment a lot. I have a lot of thoughts. As someone who recently figured out ( age 38) they were ACE, Isaac's storyline means the world to me. There was no one like him on TV for me to watch growing up.

@@FeeFiFoFumBalthazar you know the saddest part is, it was my friend who made me have that light bulb moment. We have known each other since we were 14 so she knows me very well. We were talking about relationships and stuff. I was telling her how a co-worker of mine who is in their 20's was asking about our sexuality and I was like well, I know I am attracted to me but honestly it is whatever for me. I have never put thought into it. That also lead to me having a conversation with my mother about intamcy and relationships I have had and I was like look I have never been presented with anything more than kissing but I also don't think I care. It doesn't interest me as much as other things. I am not even sure I like kissing that much. So, after telling my friend all that as we were eating Korean BbQ she was like," well did you ever consider that you're ace. That you might be asexual( I was already saying I was sapiosexual) just maybe that is why that doesn't matter. When she said that, I swear it was like the sky opened and I heard Angels sing. So now I am just trying to navigate in this world knowing what I know. I am so sure that if I had seen one character growing up in the late 90's early 2000's that was even a little like me I would figured this out sooner. But now I can watch Isacc or Blackbeard on Our Flag Means Death or even Azaraphale and Crowley and go," oh, I can love someone without all that pressure and if it goes forward it goes forward. If it doesn't that is OK." There are so many forms of intimacy and I just wish I learned that sooner. Sorry for the rambling.

7:00 - Charlie would make a great politician - deep down he is very clever in manipulating - not in a bad way, but you can see he uses certain ways to defer attention from him and back to say Nick. This is a defensive technique which many young people use when they have been bullied and suffered from mental trauma. A sign that Charlie really needs to see a specialist
@ipurpleu1668

It’s interesting you say that, cause in the novels, I think it’s Tori that mentions that Charlie is the best liar she’s met. We so often see lying as a “bad quality” of someone or that it makes someone a bad person. But, like you said, it’s a defense mechanism for many. Doesn’t make it “good” or whatever, but people need to be more understanding about WHY people lie before they use it to judge their character.

Same. I'm 44, and I've had decades of my mother wringing her hands saying "you'd better get someone soon, or all the good ones are going to be taken!" and "If you just had a partner in your life to keep you grounded, then everything else would fall into place." I feel so lucky that I have a cohort of high school and college friends who have all managed to make it to my age without settling down and make me feel like I'm not broken if I value other things in life more than romance. Old books used to make us feel pity or scorn for spinsters, but I think they may have been living their best lives under everyone's radar.

Loving the reactions! I completely agree with what you said about aro-ace representation and thank you for wanting to add to the representation online. I'm in my late 20s and still coming to terms with my aro-ace identity. I wish there had been more representation in the media I consumed when I was younger. It's difficult to get rid of that feeling that there is something wrong with you when no one in your immediate circle seems to understand what you are feeling. The amount of times I've heard people say- "you just haven't found the right person"... I know they mean well but it perpetuates this feeling that I am broken- that I can't feel something others seem to so easily. If I had had people who were able to explain asexuality to me and tell me that it wasn't anything to be ashamed or embarrassed of sooner- it would have saved me a lot of confusion, sadness and self loathing! Hopefully this show marks the start of a new wave of representation for aro-aces and we'll be the last generation to feel like undercover aliens!

Yup, I've heard that countless times, too - "you just haven't found the right person." Even if you're not aro ace, it still makes you feel like you're not putting in the work to do what it takes to live your best life, like you shouldn't be spending all this time focusing on a career and stuff when your time would be better spent on an expedition to "find the right person." Fortunately, I have a much healthier attitude than I was raised with, and I'm happy to validate everyone on the sexuality spectrum! You're uniquely you, and that is all anyone must be to be worthy.

A show I would recommend for Ace rep is Heartbreak High... it's a great show, very different feel to HS but also very good and VERY funny and a lot of good Gen Z representation in general. (Also has some of the best Autistic rep I've seen in a character called Quinni who's played by an Autistic actress). Won't say too much because it'll be a bit of a spoiler but there's an Ace character (not aro though) who tries to navigate his crush and budding relationship with another character (who's not ace) while also dealing with a ton of other stuff. They ended up being my fav couple and 2 of my fav characters in the show. So yeah highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.

Hi there! thank you for your content, I really enjoy it! From what I gather, the character of Todd in "BoJack Horseman" was an ace character well received by the aro/ace community! Stellar show, exceptional piece of television! (But it only truly picks up after a couple of episodes or so, you gotta trust it lol). So maybe give it a watch? I'd be curious of your reaction. Once again Jackie, another wonderful reaction. Can I just recommend tissues for the last two. I honestly think you’ll need them. I know I did!

Hi, you made a very interesting comment at around 4:45 - I am 38 years old, and I have seen this happen back growing up as a teenager in the late 90s early 00s. There were TV shows which had kids of 5, 6 or 7 years old and the host would always ask "do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend?" and "will you get married when you are older?" - this obsession is down to the old fashioned ideal that marriage was the perfect thing for humans. Sadly it seems part of that obsession has remained even now in 2023.

I’m 30 years old and I’ve never been in a relationship. And almost ever person in my life is putting pressure on me now. Related to that so much. I’m not even sure who I am yet….

I SOOOO wish I had this show growing up. I came. out to my sister first, and then my parents they were so very supportive and understanding. I am 41 years old, I have a BF and we've been together for ages, it took me so long to know that it was ok. I am a very emotional person, and I actually like that. I just wish I hadn't waited so long. It's very hard to be gay in Texas

Ive only seen two other instances of an Ace storyline be mentioned in TV and that was in season 2 of Sex Education and in Emmerdale they had Aaron's sister be Ace and in typical soap fashion they were eventually killed off the show

I have not read any of the books yet. They remain on my shelf because I wanted to walk into this series totally cold. I'll be able to compare Series to Books later. Season 2 just seems to get better and better. All of the acting is just brilliant. Everyone has grown into their characters so well. The moment that got to me was Isaac standing there with tears running down his face. (And YES to once every 5 years, getting a CHARLIE and NICK update movie....)

I really love Nick and Charlie, and of course Kit and Joe. They are amazing! they are not acting being in love... they are in love. And I also think their acting is even better this season (I can't believe I am saying it - but this season is better than the first one... what a blasphemy)

Based on where Darcy’s story goes and how she generally uses being LiVeLy AnD fUn to avoid things, I wonder if Darcy pouring Nick a full glass of vodka without asking and then being the first one to vomit is hinting at an alcohol abuse plotline in season three or four.

I'm an Asian and my family is weird. I don't know if this is the case to others as well but I'm not really allowed to be into a relationship when I was in my teens. Yet when I got into my mid 20's they kept asking if I have a girlfriend lol.

Hearing about people who realised they were asexual (and/or aro) the thing that always comes up is how broken we felt and how much of a freak for not getting it. I only realised when I was 37 and I'm so so happy young queers now get that representation of aroace so if they feel that label matches them, they hopefully don't live years and years thinking there is something wrong with them and maybe pushing themselves to be "normal" (and breaking their own heart in the process over and over).

Honestly, living in a part of Asia that is definitely not progressive, it can be quite frustrating how many people ask you "Have you been married? Have you got a girlfriend? When will you get married?". And it's somewhat worse in my workplace where a teacher was just found having a romantic relationship with a student. Now all teachers and staff members who have not married yet, including me, got that stare where they're being suspicious that we might do the same thing, unless we get married soon. My ace self just can't.
