I'm watching this because you were honest about turning resin - even though you were mainly turning wood here. I'm liking it because you made something which is genuinely beautiful. I hope you influence other KZbin "wood turning" channels who mainly turn resin (with wood inclusions) to admit that they're turning resin. There is nothing wrong with resin and it can be really beautiful, as you've just proved. This was an inspired work of genius, thanks for sharing.
@JackMackWoodturning2 жыл бұрын
I really don’t understand what you thing is going on here. Woodturning with resin is still wood turning, just like wood working with MDF is still woodworking even tho you are using materials that are not wood you are still using the “process of woodworking or woodturning.” You are taking the terminology to literally and it’s only causing you upset. Relax a little, try to understand a little better, stop getting hung up on a defining a procedure through literal terms. If you use a woodturning lathe to turn a solid lump of resin, it is still woodturning because you are using a woodturning lathe, woodturning tools and wooodturning techniques to shape and polish the material in question. It dose not become resting turning, or the lathe become a resin Turing lathe or the tools become resin turning tools. Do you understand???
@otherpatrickgill2 жыл бұрын
@@JackMackWoodturning I understand but disagree. Wood turning is turning wood, resin turning is turning resin. I'm relaxed and happy when commenting on your channel thanks to your excellent content. If you go to a restaurant and order meat but get chickpeas and toasted coconut with some bacon added for garnish, you didn't get what you ordered and you have every right to complain. Saying that it was grilled on a meat grill doesn't change things. For the record I'd love grilled chickpeas and coconut right now - and there are days when I go looking for resin turning, also soapstone turning, etc. But I don't want to get something marked as something else. You turned wood and resin beautifully and marked it as such. I hope other KZbin channels follow your fine example.

Thankyou Sir, That was beautiful viewing. I expected you to make a bowl/receptical, with a lid, to be placed on a sideboard. It was amazing what you made with your skills, especially when you applied oils/wax to the woodgrain, and then placed a light source inside. I do something along those lines, making wooden forms, then waxing them. The woodgrain just comes to life. It's like electricity running through your fingers, just a lovely experience. Thankyou for posting. Great respect and good luck! Take care. Ps. I could sit with that in my lap, just constantly running my fingers around and over the form, never tiring. It's just beautiful. Woodgrain is just amazing.
