I saw the “scraps” come out and thought “oh brother, another scrap bowl.” But you took the time to trim them to fit your mold and even cut small strips to fill most of the gaps. The variation of woods is eye catching in itself. Using clear resin in this case was the right choice. You came out with a beautiful bowl. Well done. Thank you for sharing it.

Nice one Doug. Glad you liked it man. I don’t think it would have been the same without that rainbow ply though. What you been making lately?
@m_vick_md2 жыл бұрын
I have to agree with Doug, I have been on the wood turning binge watch and most people don't take the time to actually fit the pieces, they just dump em and pour resin and the result, at least for me, is not aesthetic or that impressive, it really looses that satisfactory result! Beautiful bowl and OCD pleasing

@segamble16792 жыл бұрын
When you were shaping the outside, did you keep stopping to see how the shape was affecting the profile of the scraps (elongating some, keeping others at 90°)? Do you normally pre-plan your profiles, or do you "feel it out" as you go? I was thinking about all the different shapes you could have turned and how they would have looked drastically different. Imagine if you had turned a wide shallow dish/plate?! Love all the possibilities! Your choice was a great one, best of all worlds: end grain, horizontal, elongated/angeled, and all the transitions between.
