Oh Happy day! Ernest is my hero! I highly recommend the book “the importance of being Ernest” written by his nephew, it’s one of the few books on jim varney I could find.

Fantastic and in-depth retrospective on Ernest Scared Stupid. Ernest P. Rowell is a underrated overlooked character. But played brilliantly by the late Jim Varney. His Ernest movies may not be perfect but they were a fun part of my childhood growing up. 2:47 She grew up hot 🔥🥵😍

Absolutely! I owned a VHS copy of Ernest Goes to Camp and watched that thing all the time when I was a kid. And, yes, yes she did.

Jim Varney, Eartha Kitt, and a cute dog? What's not to love about this movie?

I mean those two alone are great, but I'm definitely a sucker for a cute dog! That scene where Ernest has Rimshot dressed up as a kid to lure out the troll is my favorite. The dog is so f*cking adorable there.

I just missed the boat on Ernest, but I can see the appeal. I did love Varney as the voice of Slinky Dog in Toy Story though.

What I liked about the Ernest movies as a kid was there was no cultural agenda, "message", or political/politically correct bs...it was just meant to be goofy and entertaining, and it was. Immature, maybe, but in our current age of "everyone's a movie critic" mindset because of YT and Tiktok, it just reminds me of simpler times in the 90s. Where a gag or joke was just for a laugh, no context, hidden meaning, or in depth analysis...just funny. Good commentary though broski

Yeah, I do wish the world was less hyper-critical of humor. Jokes are meant to make people laugh. Sure, some of it is crude and offensive, but at the end the day, most jokes are just trying to entertain people. Just because someone doesn't care for the brand of humor doesn't mean the person who wrote or performed the joke needs to be cancelled.

@@JackOfAllNerdsShow100% agree. Modern society has adopted a form of hypersensitivity, and in most cases I don't even believe it's genuine. They just think it will get them virtue points with whatever circles they run in, so they have to pretend they're outraged and clutching their pearls. If something isn't your cup of tea, don't listen to/watch it. To demand that nobody else can just shows the entitlement of those types of people. Like spoiled adult children who grew up always getting their way, and if they don't they throw themselves on the floor and make a scene. It's sad really, a lot of the younger generation lacks individuality, they believe whatever the group does, and dislike the same...there is no nuance or context anymore. My kids are preteen though and they say it's changing back to some what normalcy, fingers crossed lol

My aunt lives down the road from him or where he used to live in Tennessee, growing up he was always entertaining but something about the movies seemed...unrelatable? He was a grown man. And the Halloween one in particular was WAY too scary for me as a kid. But it was more like... Entertaining chaos at best, I didn't much like the Christmas one either, the camp one was good but with it being such a weird character in a normal everyday world he just felt... Immature to me. Just not relatable in that sense. IDK I liked it and it wasn't a bad show but I could never get into it growing up.

Haha, that's fine man. We all have different tastes and I can see how Ernest could be annoying or unrelatable. I've just always been a fan of loveable idiots. In fact, I like to think of myself as a loveable idiot, just not as extreme as Ernest P. Worrell.
