You're spot on the cars are being held from the scrapman, giving someone the chance to fulfil their dream. It's not reasonable to expect 1 person to restore all the cars in the world, but if they have space and sense they can pay it forward. Well done sir I salute you.

One problem with that is exactly what he mentioned in this video... the people who care about older cars are dying off by the minute... less and less people care about 1930-40s cars or earlier, and it's getting that way with muscle cars as well. So guys like this hoarding everything till they're too old to do anything with it may be a benefit, but also can be a bad thing... now a lot of the people who would have restored these are his age and in failing health too. That and the prices go up every year. A lot of the cars I would buy to restore would be too expensive now compared to when this guy bought them to hoard. Now its the 80s and 90s cars that are becoming popular again... like the guy said that Bronco II would be his choice there... 20 yrs ago those were trash used cars nobody cared about.

@@BabyJesus66 That's just life those people and people who buy cars as assets speculating on their future value rather than buying the car for the right reasons. If anything the failing demand for these cars would bring them down in price and a more realistic option for someone to restore and make good to have fun with rather than all about making money. Big money ruins everything in life whether it's this or motorsport pushing out the little people grass roots stuff is harder to access and run as it all has to make profits etc.

I've run into a lot of people hording cars who will not sell at any price yet they lack the skills or talent to bring the cars back. I remember a guy who had a Plymouth Superbird when the cars are bringing OK money for a used car but before the prices went insane. He refused to sell at any price. Eventually the car deteriorated to the point where it could no longer be saved and his family broke it up for parts.

@@BabyJesus66 Yeah, I saw a video of a bunch of cars in the woods. The maker of the video bought a couple that were most interesting to him. When he went back to get them, a lot of other cars were being stacked on a flatbed for a trip to the crusher. Sad.

There's a difference between guys like this who buys too many cars, stores them up nicely and is willing to sell and the ones that just puts them in a wet field or in the woods somewhere to continue the rotting process and refuses to sell anything before they die/are forced by local authorities to get rid of them. Some of the latter ones would rather pay to have them scrapped than sell them for a realistic price.

I agree with you on the fact these people have saved these cars from being crushed years or decades ago but to contradict you 9 out of 10 of these hoarders won’t sell anything then when they pass someone else comes into the picture that doesn’t care and or know anything about them and scraps them anyways. If the original hoarder would start selling them off now that they’re worth more money and they’re still alive keeping a couple of their favorites they could use that money to restore and/or maintain those cars and actually enjoy the fruits of they’re labor. I think that’s what most people have a problem with and its happened time and time again that the car world ends up losing those vehicles anyways.Cudos for this gentleman for offering to sell these at legitimate prices while he’s still with us.

He wasn't lying either because there was 2 camper trailers there practically junk that the son said his dad got them in his condition...i don't know why people are like this. Sad!

EXACTLY. Like they can be great project cars, but they are either over valued (because they hold sentimental value to the owner/horder) or have no reputation that makes younger people wanna pick them up. Like I was eyeing the Bronco, GMC truck, and the suburbans, but when he said he wanted 25k for the 1984 GMC 3500 my jaw dropped. Nobody is going to pay that price, because this dude added $10-$15k worth of sentimental value onto it.

1972 Monte Carlo with the 'Custom' package and 402 big block. No bucket seats, but that 4way power bench seat is SUPER RARE probably less than 1,000 Montes came with that option. The Custom package came with that body colour matched Sport mirror, those Corvette style hubcaps, 4 spoke sport wheel with the tilt column and upgraded suspension with rear sway bar. Nice car once fixed up. The SuperSport package was discontinued in 72, you could order a 454 as its own option, not a lot of 454s in 72 (less than 1500) but then also less than 10,000 built with a 402

Awesome episode. Every time someone uses the term “Hoarder” i correct them with the term “Conservator”. I just sold 20 cars out of my Project Shed. Stuff that people didn’t want 15 years ago, and would have gone to scrap or just been left outside. Now, all hard to find stuff, especially ones that haven’t been raided for parts.

A lot of these cars have good body's and are worth restoring. Maybe some youtuber will go and buy up a bunch. Definitely some gems there like the Caprices, the old Suburbans and Tom's pick the Bronco II. The Monte Carlo is my pick. Cheers all. 🇨🇦

The first year for a Suburban was 1935 , Chevrolet actually had one in an advertisement one time fairly recently . All were two doors , until 1967-72 when they made the three door version , which was upgraded to the four door in 1973 . All had the wood plank rear floor like a pickup until the '73 redesign .
