One of the most under appreciated R&B songs in the past 40 years. From the cord progression, to the bridge, to how the end of the song rides out. Classic perfection!

Kashif produced this song & yes the outto is smooth as butter😍But I’m sure Clive was like -dont make it too funky now 🤦🏽♀️. He wanted her to have that crossover appeal.
@bmwjourdandunngoddess602411 ай бұрын
@@devildee9286Yes, to crossover to the white audience it was EXTREMELY hard, and it wasn’t as easy as today on which it seems boundaries do not exist. Back then you had to have a professional construct your image and it wasn’t even 100% guaranteed for fame. Because a white artist could just steal everything you have/Had.

What give Whitney Houston the title THE VOICE she wasn't just a great singer and with a unique sound. She wasn't afraid to show the ability of her vocal skills and take her voice to places a lot of singers are afraid to do.

My favourite Whitney song. Her vocal performance in this song is unbelievable. She dials it back when needed and then let’s it’s rip. Masterful.

This is why she had the biggest selling debut album of all time, and this album was the first to go Diamond for any female. She really had that fire back when she came out I swear no one could get enough of her!! We wanted more and more and more!

Whitney one of a kind. Unequivocally one of the most amazing singers ever.

Can't go wrong with Whitney! IF you didn't live during the 80s or 90s you wouldn't think she was REAL but she was. She was the real deal...no lab, no trickery. She had the voice, the looks, the talks (could do an interview like nobody), the personality, the success, the respect.

@craigblakes549911 ай бұрын
The voice. It's sad how bad she was treated by some Blacks because she wasn't doing R&B. I was a child back then, but I do remember her getting booed at one of the Soul Train award shows. But she kept shutting everyone up with that voice and success. I miss her

She actually done R&B but had to popizied her sound to appeal to mainstream audiences but regardless of the fact she was and always will be a tremendous talent.

To be honest.. we didn't appreciate Whitney enough. The same soul train awards that adored her here...boo'ed her a few years later. I was a kid but I remember hearing she was a sell out.. everywhere! That wounded her. Unfortunately now that she's at rest we fully love, appreciate and miss her. It's how it should've been while she was here.

Whitney had some not great experiences at Soul Train awards, being booed by the crowd when nominated for best R&B artist awards in late 80s, were some who thought her to be too “pop” music. When Anita Bsker won over her and others she said kind words to her and Houston family in her acceptance speech. Whitney’s voice was crazy good
@katieyoung591611 ай бұрын
If I recall (and I may be wrong) this was THAT night. This is the stage from Bobby's performance which I know was from that night so...I think it was. SMH that's just still wild to me. How anyone could fix their mouth or heart to boo this woman let alone THAT...THEEEEE voice is incomprehensible.
