Alright, a little primer for the uninitiated in Homestuck. Hive = House Lusus = parental guardian pet Blood color denotes place in society. Essentially, think the order of the colors in a rainbow. Red is the lowest, Violet is the highest, except instead of 7 colors, there are like 12. The name of the species is actually Troll, and their planet is called Alternia. Something something hearts and spades something something BUCKETS. They begin their lives as tiny grubs, and are watched over by Lusus. All of their technology is based on bugs. It's all programmed in a language called "~ath". The Heiress is the title of the monarchy of the world. They look like fish people because, save for the Subjugulators and their ilk, the highest blood colors all seem to be aquatic variants on the Troll species. -Brief note, Subjugulators are... as far as I can tell... something like an imperial status that presides over the legal system... and are blood thirsty... not entirely sure, I don't think they are covered much. Oh, and something to do with clowns.- The swirling red and green relate to beings known as Cherubs. During adolescence, they share a body and mind with a sibling. While one is awake, the other sleeps, and vice versa One is always good, the other is always evil. One "sibling" overpowers the other, then adulthood can happen. They can then turn into giant snakes, fly into space to meet other cherub snakes, then mate inside of black holes. It gets a lot more complicated. Everything stated here is a gross oversimplification, but it may help clear some things up.

the hemospectrum goes as such: (rust)red(unlike himans bright, candy red) brown yellow lime olive jade teal cobalt indigo purple(the subjugglators, land dweller royalty, are purple bloods and they serve the empress and control all the lower bloods) violet(seadwellers. the seadwellers can also walk on land) fuchsia(there are only ever two fuchsia bloods at any time, the empress and the heiress, and they must fight to the death for the throne when the heiress is of age. they have a shared squid-god lusus that protects the heiress, who must keep it fed lest it unleashes a psychic scream that will kill evry troll in galaxy) the lower bloods tend to have psionic abilities of varied nature, from telekinesis, animal communion, the ability to pacify a highbloods violent tendencies, and so on. in turn the high bloods tend to be bastly phisically stronger(in HS one was so strong he could barely hold anything without breaking, while other was able to easily best others in combat) and the ability to control the minds of lower bloods. the higher in the hemospectrum a troll is the more violent it is, which is why they tend to seek lower blooded trolls to be their "moirails", essentially a platonic soulmate, who pacify each other, usually the low blood pacifying the high blood, nut it can usually be inverted, as all trolls have violent tendencies, but not all trolls are violent all the time. trols have two types of romantic feelings, hate(kismesis) and pity(love(matesprit)), and these feelings are associated with their mating and reproductory process. romantic hate is complicated, since not all hate is romantic, but also because trolls are so violent, sometimes a third troll will intervene so as to avoid the creation of kismesisitude, because theres is actual risk of injury and death associated with the quadrant.that troll is the aupistice the reason why trolls are so violent is because they have terrible nightmares every day(they are nocturnal, usually) unless they sleep in a special slime bed that soothes them.

I think I know why Xefros is always apoligizing. In homestuck, the trolls have a an hierarchie based on their blood color and red blood is the lowest blood " peasent" and are the most likely to get killed. I genuinely think Jack would enjoy Homestuck as he enjoys the humor in Hiveswap however it is VERY long....That and there is just so much to it. So many complex characters and relationships. But other than the humor it is also really deep. It addresses mental illnesses, abusive relationships, and over all it's just a bunch of teenagers being forced into awful situations and being forced to adapt. I just wish that the majority of the fandom acknowledged that part of the comic too.

Hey Jack, a couple handy things to know about Trolls: 1: they live in a somewhat-hierarchy based around blood color, with *red* on the bottom of this "hemospectrum" and *purple-magenta* on top, the higher colors on the scale also live longer, and are considered royalty. 2: The troll's planet is *Alternia*, and their language is Skyrim's Daedric upside down and backwards, with a few extra characters scattered about.

Act 5 is longer than the previous Acts combined. When I was reading it years in Act 5 Part 1, I was trying to find out who the Ancestors were and was told I was about halfway through. This was when there was only one part to Act 6. In Act 6, Hussie started to experiment with the definition of "Acts." There is an Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 5, which is a section of Act 6 Act 6. Act 6 goes up to Act 6 Act 6 Act 6. Act 7 is a mostly a 9 minute animation and closing credit animation/Epilogue page. It then sporadically continues with Snapchat Added Scenes Post-Ending that are archived on tumblr. *Homestuck has over 8,000 pages and 800,000 words.* ===> On the MSPA website, Homestuck starts on page 1901. Act 5 is page 3889. Act 5 Part 2 is 5981. The last page of Homestuck is page 10029.

The fandom used to have 3 month long ReReads during the different Pauses (like the GigaPause) where people would reread the comic as a group and everyone would need to read several hundred pages a night (I think with either a one day or weekend rest a week for people to catch up). Depending on where you are in Act 5, you might optimistically be around 20-30% through?? It's hard to tell because the pesterlogs vary in length.

Helpful troll info for Jack just related to this game: -Trolls are aliens. They live on Alternia. They have a caste system divided into which blood color they are. Lowbloods, which Xefros is, are the reds and browns and yellows, and they live short lifespans and get the short stick of everything. Highbloods are blues and indigos and purples, and the highest of them all, the fuschiablood rulers. Greens are in the middle. Bright candy red and lime green are mutant bloods but they probably won't show up in this particular story. -Trolls have a weird romance system. I won't get too into it but it's divided into quadrants, and in addition to regular romance they have hatemance, keep your friends from killing each other-mance, and platonic love. So the current heiress is Trizza, she's completely new. Hiveswap seems to be set a bit before the troll kids from Homestuck are hatched, but after the Condensce goes off into space. Trizza is not related to Feferi, I don't think Feferi even exists yet. Just like how for the Earth kids, Jake "Pa" Harley exists, but Jade doesn't, and it focuses on Joey and Jude, Jake's kids. So it's sorta a prequel to Homestuck, but not focusing on the beta guardians/troll ancestors. Just the kids in the middle. Which is cool, because I think everyone kinda wondered about that missing generation. Sorry, kinda got off track. Hiveswap is firmly in the Homestuck canon, but it's all new people, with references to familiar characters on the periphery.

Pretty sure a lot of people are saying this in order to help but, well what's another one? A brief homestuck lesson for jack: 1.) The trolls (the alien species and yes they are literally called trolls) are a super violent and conquering alien people who are ruled by a caste system based on blood color, with red being the lowest (hence, "rustblood trash"), and fuschia being the highest color (fuschia trolls being the empresses of the whole planet since they're all ladies, hence the Heiress). Also, certain blood castes have their own sets of powers, which im guessing u saw if you do continuous recording ;) 2.) Trolls have typing quirks, it's hard to decipher them but you eventually just get used to it. 3.) The lusus is an animal monster that serves as a guardian to young trolls, and im not going get into the can of worm but basically trolls run on a sort of cloning based reproduction and never have parental figures, since Adult trolls were literally banished from the planet by the Empress. 4.) Yes!! The trolls are based off of bugs! I mean...they technically are in a way "bugs"....they start out as literal grubs as babies, and look sort of like a caterpillar with a normal troll head on its body. And now that I think about it, you could like call the Empress the queen of the hive and the rest of the trolls are her workers.

Some possibly helpful info to know: -The grey guys with the horns are a specific species called Troll. -Trolls are separated by blood color and spectrum. In Homestuck, the trolls' blood colors are Candy Red (Which is mutant, pardon my mistake), Rust Red, Chocolate brown, Mustard yellow, Lime green (Which has never been seen in Homestuck, I think it's extinct or something like that), Olive green, Jade green, Turquoise, Electric blue, Navy blue, Indigo purple, Royal purple, and Fuchsia pink. Candy red being like the peasants and Fuchsia being the most royal. -Trolls have specific typing quirks based off of their sign or personality, the Lusus (Pronounced as Loo-suhs or Loo-sis), or maybe just the character in general. -A lusus is kind of like a replacement parent or guardian (Also of you guys have stuff to add on, please do so. You'd learn a lot about the universe, though, and catch a ton of references that he misses. The hierarchy, characters and worlds would make more sense as well. Hey Jack, I know a ton of people are probably going to say this, but if you really enjoy the humor style, dialogue, and characters of Hiveswap, I think you would genuinely enjoy Homestuck! The characters are brilliant, and the dialogue has all the quirky charm of the game (since Hiveswap is based on that universe, it makes sense.) It is a very long read! But when you pair it with some frankly stunning visuals and music, vibrant animations, and hilarious storytelling, it really doesn't feel like reading such a long piece of fiction. Here's some lil "translations" from this episode of hiveswap!! the "aliens" are called trolls! that's their equivalent to humans. the term "hive" is also their equivalent to home or house, so basically if you consider the game's title its basically "homeswap" since you swapped homes with dammek. "lusus" are the trolls' guardian. each troll will have their own lusus usually depending on the animal they are associated with. dammek is mostly associated with deers since he has antler shaped horns! the reason why xefros uses the letter "x" a lot is because in the homestuck canon, each character has their own typing style known as their quirk. some will type in all caps, some will type in all lower case, some uses zeros as the letter o, etc. there's a big reason why xefros asked the color of your blood and said he's red blood trash but it might be considered as a spoiler if i say it? and i feel like it'll play a huge part in the game so i guess you'll just have to find out and see for yourself!! I hope this comes in useful to anybody. i used to be homestuck trash and i honestly still am :)

Personally, i pronounce lusus as loo-sis or occasionally loo-suss, and xefros as zef-fros (the o sounding like yoyo). No worries though, there has never been any canon pronunciations for much. I was actually one of the people who were a bit apprehensive for you to play this knowing that some of the same people that made undertale's fandom so bad might come to homestuck's, or that it wouldve been weird seeing you play it. I only say so since it seems like you're really enjoying it and I just wanted to say that though I had my doubts, I ended up really appreciating when you play Hiveswap, and am eager to continue watching. So basically, a seal of approval from a long time homestuck, as well as saying I knoe you've probably gotten some flak on the subject but don't worry, other people will come around too! How about everybody just calm down with the explaining. I played the game before deciding to watch jacksepticeye's playthrough and it's all explained through dialogue. Everything basic about troll culture (like the hemocaste, typing quirks, politics and lusii) is pretty much entirely explained in Act 1 and I'm 100% positive that more will be explained in the other three installments. It's bound to happen with the mixture of human and troll characters in this game series. Just let Sean explore and get to know this universe at his own pace.

Remember, Jade Harley's meteor landed in December 1995, a year or so after the events of Hiveswap (which takes place in 1994?) and, if you remember, Pa Harley dies while Jade is still young (2 or 3), and Tavros (thinking hes doing her a favor) uses his ability to manipulate animals to use Bec to transfer a bullet headed for Jade towards Pa Harley. Pa Harley was an old man when he died, and given that Jade is 13 when Homestuck starts, and her meteor lands a year after the events of Hiveswap, then Homestuck takes place a little less than 15 years after Hiveswap. and in reply to Wheatley up there, Trizza was likely killed by Tetrarch Dammek's Rebellion, followed by the immediate culling (by highbloods) of all involved, which is the reason we don't see any of the Hiveswap trolls in Homestuck, and why Fef is the heiress in Homestuck. Joey and Jude (possibly accompanied by Xefros? I don't want to believe that precious boy died I love him too much) most likely went back to earth to live out their lives in Harley Manor, OR: they joined Xefros in some sort of space-exploring shenanigan. Pa Harley stops coming back because he's A) Forgotten his kids existed and decided to raise Jade or B) Thinks his kids are dead (:[) and is viewing Jade as a fresh start. Roxy stops babysitting because A) Joey is "old enough to take care of [herself] and jude :)" or B) Roxy ALSO believes Joey and Jude are dead, and tries her best to raise Rose because she is Not losing another kid. It's a lot sadder if Jude and Joey go missing after the events of Hiveswap, and Pa and Roxy are both viewing these miracle meteor children as a way to redeem themselves for what happened to Joey and Jude (hopefully, theyre alive and well exploring the universe with Xefros and liberating people from the control of the Condesce, OR living on Earth somewhere. Maybe Joey becomes a dancer, but she's only famous on Broadway. Maybe Jude works for the government down in Area 51) but they dont do a particularly good job, considering Roxy still drinks and Pa got shot because of his own carelessness (leaving a gun lying about with a toddler on the loose who just so happens to have a well-meaning, but not-quite-bright troll looking after her). (It kind of makes me wonder, IF Rox and Pa are viewing Rose and Jade as Fresh Starts... why did Dad and Bro pick up John and Dave? Why did THEY take care of mysterious meteor babies. Also, Dad is John's half-brother, just food for thought. Jude and Joey are John and Jade's half-siblings too.)

I love the innocence Jack has to this whole story. Me and my friend were geeking out the whole time, coming up with theories and counter theories to every little thing in the background but Jack is just flying through, completely unaffected by the smallest of details. I love his confusion on Trolls. He is so cute and brings a whole new look to this fandom. Everyone please be nice to him with pronouncing things and things that just goes over his head. Ok Jack, Homestuck is super hard to explain haha the whole story is extremely complicated. The trolls have different blood colors with follows the hemospectrum. The blood colors range from red (rust) to fuschia (which is the highest, aka the Heiress) they also have a symbol on their shirts, the symbols don't really mean much. In homestuck the trolls had the zodiac symbols. Oh and a Lusus is like a troll' s equivalent to a parent. Trolls are born from something called the mother grub, and a lusus will pick a troll baby (aka grub) to care for. The deer cat one is Dammek's lusus. Oh and lusus is pronounced (Loose-us), Xefros is (Z-ef-row-s) and Dammek is (Dah-meck). Hopefully that helps a little bit. Oh shit AND trolls typically have either a special weapon and or power. Again hope that helps and if you have more questions ill try and answer. Oh and you should know that Dammek is higher up (not much) than Xefros on the hemospectrum which is kinda why he treats him like crap.

Commenting Creatively actually I believe tjisntakes places before the trolls and other kids are born. Jude's and Joey's Pa I think is suppose to be Jade' s grandpa making Jude, Jade' s eventual father, (which we never seen Homestuck). Also I don't think that's Roxy, I'm pretty sure it's Rose 's mom.

As someone who loved homestuck, was huge into the fanbase, and has ready every page twice... I would hate for him to do that. It's really not something for everyone and it's really really slow paced. Hiveswap is getting the universe and wonderful writing and witty humor out to a wider audience but homestuck just isn't everyone's cup of tea and for sure isn't fit for youtube videos.

Also he seems to enjoy the most homestuck parts of this game, like the reference and strange word humour. Maybe he would enjoy problem sleuth actually... I can think of a few charecters he'd love.
