Did you ever cut a part two?

No, it developed another issue that may have been above my abilities and I kinda lost interest....I believe one of the smd IC's went bad, I ordered one but just never got back to it...again, it may be above my abilities. Jack, VEG

Thanks for the video, especially the dismantiling of the display. was always wondering whether I was too dumb or the mechanism is really so stupid.

I've ordered a new VFD for my 34401A it will arrive around April 12, 2024 and I hope to have a success. The meter seems to be fine otherwise, just the display is very dim... Sigh... but I want to fix it and make it like new.

That was a most timely video Jack. My one is not completing its boot sequence so I have to pull it apart. At least now I can see how it comes apart!

They sure made that so it doesn't come apart that easy. Your wife is really handy to have around Jack. But it looks like you figured out some good tricks getting that apart. A lot of great work on that display Jack and it works. I imagine the chinese replacement display still cost a couple bucks.

Thanks Larry! Yep, she's a keeper indeed! It cost just under $45 shipped from Red China, this was a Minden swap find for $10, so I cant complain...go price them and you'll see. :) ~Jack, VEG

Hey Jack. Have to admit I was skeptical that the new display would fix the problem. I would have put money on the driver. Good luck putting it right. :)

I was worried as well, but I figured worst case scenario, resale I would recoup my money even as a parts unit...even at the point were I am now with it. Thank you! ~Jack, VEG
