haven't seen its innerds, amazing radio. 32 years old tech, imagine a rig now? I had that in the Chevy when I got it to replace the htx252. it did well on simplex, i parked it at 146.520mhz. I liked Icom, but now I have a dual band Alinco.

Its the man of the hour, howdy Don! Today its probably a blob...one chip done! :) As far as I'm concerned, going from the Icom to the HTX-252 was going backwards, the Icom is hands down far better, I have ran both in the mobile and base...the Icom wins...the only advantage the HTX-252 has is its smaller, that's it. Since I mostly talk simplex, the Icom gets used mostly on simplex...and sometimes I will use it on 6.520...especially if I'm traveling in the Jeep which is for now the rig I have it in...it has been to Oregon, Northern California, Nevada, Los Angeles and many-many trips to the San Francisco bay area, such as yesterday since I have repaired the radio this past summer. Cool thingy Jack. I suppose the old light is incandescent. I would just solder in the LED resistor somewhere along the wire and put heat shrink over it so nothing shorts out. Merry Christmas.

The incandescent lamps are a #7219 that are sold by the major electronic parts distributors.
