It's really cool of you to post this for free, Jack! I appreciate it, since money is tight for me. This was a really cool fight. I've only been training jiu jitsu for a couple of years, but it seems to me you often see pretty bad bottom game plans in MMA. People don't ever try to sweep, the emphasis is always on getting to the feet. People who get back control cross the legs. People don't kick grapplers cause they don't want to get taken down, then get taken down anyway, without the benefit of landing anything. I feel like the meta will change in the next few years because of these dagis, and it might look like lots of sweeps and body work

*Nerd glasses on* 🤓 this is how it was taught to me so, fight me and tell me I’m wrong The “giggler/john wane” is the sweep you see here in this video where its the inside leg and the rotation of the knees causing the sweep. The “knee lever” is when you take your outside leg over the top of the opponents leg and drag their heel away from their body. This torques the knee to cause the sweep.

Should be an automatic point deduction for toes and fingers in the fence. The amount of assistance that grants is incredibly underrated. Grappling is extremely draining, so to have a postion stolen from you by that cheap stuff should be penalized by more than just a stern warning, imho.

Would you ever consider covering some Russian scene stuff? It's mostly ACA at this point I guess (though there are some good dudes in RCC and a couple in FNG/AMC) but some of the top guys on the Russian scene are also some of the top guys in the world. However nobody ever talks about them and in the larger MMA sphere (outside of Russia, I presume) it's like they don't exist. Islam Omarov has to be top 5 in the world, right? Am I crazy? Anyway aside from my digression Zavurov was an amazing talent back in the day. Khabib and Islam have both said on multiple occasions they looked up to him when they were green and still coming up. His impact on their careers is understated.

Coming from a background in western boxing I wonder why, given that these wrestlers shoot towards the outside for the single leg, more fighters don't simply check hook them? Might be a dumb question, I have limited grappling/MMA knowledge. But you would think it'd be a sound defense given their head would be lined up perfectly for that counter lead hook, and by design the target lead leg moves out of position.

Jack mentioned near the beginning of the video that this sweep also works with an overhook instead of wrist control. It's presumably harder to do, like most things are when someone is elbowing you, but probably still possible.
