45 years ago I discovered Jackson Browne amidst the record collection of a much older and slightly faded older woman who actually lived his heyday. She's gone now, but it was one of the best gifts she ever gave me. Jackson Browne's music has followed me through the years, seen me through some really rough times and lot of pleasant introspection. Years ago when the world was still analog and a handwritten note might have gotten somewhere, I'm sorry I never said 'thanks' - it's meant so much.

Yes well said Browne knowing the power within to accept with courage strength and hope, that Joy is understanding truth. Which only costs sharing and listening to gain more of. In stark contrast to mass man consumerism, which promotes instant happy, which always has a price, that loses its shine once you get the bill. That saying the best things in life are free. Browne puts that saying into truth through song, and a resulting joyful noise to those who can hear. This current limbo of happy consumer hopelessness will be replaced with joy of understanding. By and by . .

worth the price of admission every time I watch Mr Lindley... when I grow up that's what I want to do... play the most amazing music for J Browne... wouldn't be the first time a joyful sound indeed... he really wasn't a depressive type guy... San Diego County was... seminal.. he had an issue with the woman he had been living with... she heard this and promptly checked out early.. just to continue tripping him out.. or something... suicide is a permanent solution for a temporary problem as a general rule... he wanted her to be happy... and some folks just don't want to be happy... Written in the context of the anti-nuke movement of the 70s, saw him perform this at a number of those events. This is most evocative for me of the Seabrook non-occupation in 1978, and many other moments, really an anthem of that time. His music, and others, Pete Seeger's, etc., were such a connecting tissue among us all. Miss that now. How could something written 40 or 50 years ago be so relevant today?
