Maybe it's a generational thing. This was released two years before I was born, so if you were in your teens or 20's you probably know it well.

So glad to see Jackson perform one of his early songs. Like so many of them, it is about his life. He was married and his wife killed herself, leaving him with a small child. I always thought that was the subject of this song, although it could be about unahppy love in general. Still, it's a personal thing for him. Listen to his music up to and including The Pretender and you'll hear his thoughts set to thoughtful tunes. He's always been one of my faves.
