LYRICS:
The papers lie there helplessly, in a pile outside the door
I've tried and tried, but I just can't remember what they're for
The world outside is tugging like a beggar at my sleeve
Oh, that's much too old a story to believe
And you know that it's taken its share of me
Even though you take such good care of me
Now you say, "Morocco" and that makes me smile
I haven't seen Morocco for a long, long while
The dreams are rolling down across the places in my mind
And I've just had a taste of something fine
The future hides and the past just slides, England lies between
Floating in a silver mist, so cold and so clean
California's shaking like an angry child will
Who has asked for love and is unanswered still
And you know that I'm looking back carefully
'Cause I know that there's still something there for me
But you said, "Morocco" and you made me smile
And it hasn't been that easy for a long, long while
And looking back into your eyes, I saw them really shine
Giving me a taste of something fine
Something fine
Now if you see Morocco, I know you'll go in style
I may not see Morocco for a little while
But while you're there, I was hoping you might keep it in your mind
To save me just a taste of something fine

Mike, I could not agree with you more. I am writing a book about folks' concert and music stories, memories. There might be a chapter on why a certain song, or single lyric, or artist, is important to them. If you, or Angel Bulldog, would like to contribute a little description of why JB is so important to you, please email me at eric.concertstories@gmail.com and I will tell you more about the project. Thanks!

I've met Jackson twice. First time was backstage where he and his son Ethan posed for a photo. The 2nd time I was selling merchandise for Stephen Bruton on his "Victory Lap" tour when Jackson came to browse the CDs. I showed Jackson a scrapbook of early Little Feat - including a photo of the night I met Lowell in 1966 - and afterwards, when Jackson walked away, he had tears in his eyes.

When the songwriter can barely manage to perform his own creation without breaking down into tears, we see just how powerful the poet, and his Muse, have become. Hi wonder where he went deep inside his own heart and soul as we watched the painful memories flash across his face during this beautiful performance.

"...and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." "The Grapes Of Wrath" John Steinbeck -------- Revelation 14 ; 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 🙏💥🇺🇸 💓 🌏♾ #Sovereignty2020 #NewParadigm2021 #QuantumConsciousnessNOW

1976, I moved out of the house to escape my old man; from a small town in West Virginia to another small town in West Virginia. Guy up the hall in the shithole I was living in, had a couple Jackson Browne albums through "Late for the Sky". Analog turntable, vinyl, big floor speakers. Jackson's voice and those songs changed my life for the better; and have pulled me back from some dark places over the years; in addition to filling all those long hours on countless road trips beside that long white line. -C

Hard to pick a favorite JB song. This one ranks high on my list for the rich guitar sound, the imagery and sentiment. It has been stuck in my head since high school. As young marrieds my wife and toured New England and saw the Maine coast floating in a silver mist. In 2015 we went to Morocco and it was truly something fine. This song partially inspired these trips and it played in my head during both experiences; remembering still brings a smile. Thanks for this great song and the many others.
