I just came upon this series of videos and have watched 5 or 6 by now, recalling the soulful music this was then and still is now. At the end of each video, there's an unmistakable twinkle in Jackson's eye, a look, without any bravado, of simply knowing and appreciating his humble contribution to the world.

I was slightly worried before clicking the video that I might not feel the familiar warmth which I came to love, during my first years of getting to know your music back when I was in my twenties. What a gift he has! I'm so happy he shares it with all of us. Another example of lyrical wizardry from Jackson Browne is found in 'Your Bright Baby Blues": It's so hard to come by that feeling of peace This friend of mine said "Close your eyes, and try a few of these" I thought I was flying like a bird so far above my sorrow But when I looked down I was standing on my knees Now I need someone to help me, someone to help me please

First saw Jackson at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ, back in the early 70s. He played solo. The response was extremely positive, which seemed to surprise him. He said, "The next time I come back, I'm bringing my band." And he did the next year. I was there for that one, too. He is simply one of the finest songwriters of our generation. Top shelf. Always on the pulse of how it truly is. Personal, social commentary, world view. Has a few equals, but none are better. Jackson's first album is one of my favs ever. All of his work is always so good. (Nice steel work, also, Greg! We just lost Rusty Young, another terrific steel player).

@@rjb7569 That was the very first show (of MANY!) of his that I've been to. Yes, I was living in Union at that time, and was already a big fan of his music. The most ironic thing is that I thought I was the ONLY one in my whole 800+ graduating class of Union High that was into his artistry, and that they were all into ONLY the 'go to' expected usual; Zeppelin, Stones, Doors, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc., etc. But then at the Seton Hall show a year or so after that Capital show, there were MANY of my fellow classmates waiting in line to get into that gym to see him and Linda!! 😁

Pure Jackson Browne. We have a very early recording of you when you were 19 years old and playing at the Candy Company in San Diego. Still listen to your first album.....early Jackson, love it.

There isn't a song that doesn't touch me to my soul, its as though a silent kinship or connection in ny mind has been spoken out loud & put into words that I could never come up with on my own. Jackson does this fir me as though he was tapped into my thougbts. Its explained so simply , im the one that makes it all so complicated & when I hear him sing I then realize im not alone in this world of thought or realty. People say i think too much,, its not that, its just that i over think, I over feel on things that can't be solved in one person or at all. Im just happy that I have a friend that views my thoughts with the same heart, even if he has no idea I exist, I know he does & that causes my calm..

“Words and music will never touch the beauty that I’ve seen, looking you”... Jackson Browne is truly a National treasure. Thank you so much for sharing your gift, and reminding us to love one another. Throughout this pandemic, Jackson has shared his talents from his home, and has satisfied our need to hear that truth, love, and understanding still exists in this not so perfect world. Thanks so very much Jackson.

Mr. Browne, I'm 28 years old and have always admired your style. Part of me wishes I grew up during your time, but the other part of me is simply grateful that I'm able to appreciate your music because it is timeless. Your songwriting has been there for every hardship in my life, and has shaped who I am over the years. You are the true definition of an artist, and continue to inspire people like me every day. For that, and much more, I wanted to say thank you.

Damn, this is fine....I've about worn the threads off this one (as well as the others). What a flawless performance of this tune. If Jackson had crapped out on his part, this would _still_ be great due to the steel guitar playing - that guy is all over the subtleties and dynamics of that instrument. "Familiarity breeds contempt"...but not here. Jackson must've performed this song around 12 million times through the years, but it still sounds as fresh and new as the first time I heard it on the studio album. And how nice it is to hear this done on an acoustic piano instead of a wonky digital piano. The piano recording is controlled and doesn't break up as well. Best thing: He didn't bugger up the tune to try to milk something out of it that wasn't there (very common mistake). He just let the song alone! Another one: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." -And this tune definitely ain't broke. Thanks so much for posting!

The very first song I ever heard by Jackson was "For a Dancer". Fell in love instantly. I waa 15 and full of terminal uniqueness. His voice and words ministered beauty and identity to my hungry, yearning soul. Fron that time on I can recognize his voice in one note. A few years later I waa in a coma for 8 days. When I came out if it I didn't recognize a lot, including a sister. Still, I knew and was comforted by that voice. Always wanted to meet him and was insanely jealous of people I knew who did. I live in VA and thought about hitching to CA several times throughout my life. 45 years later and I can still be caught going into a world of my own, wearing my beats or blasting my Bluetooth and singing my heart out with Jackson. Gave up on meeting him and that urgency is gone. I know he is only a man but oh how he can still "Sing My Songs to Me." Thanks for listening. This was shared with gratitude and appreciation. By the far off chance that this will be read by Jackson, I want to say Thank You! Fron another of your number 1 fans.

Most of Jackson’s songs are so much more powerful when performed with this kind of minimalism, keeping the focus on Jackson, his voice, his lyrics, his gorgeous melodies. The songs are so strong that too much instrumental accompaniment tends to distract from them. The most transcendent and memorable of the countless Jackson performances I’ve seen was solo acoustic in 2002. I do think that Jackson has slowly come to understand the added power of the minimalist approach. Perhaps he didn’t have confidence earlier in how incredible songs like Looking Into You are, entirely on their own.

Jackson Browne’s songs reach into my soul and I feel the warmth and love in his lyrics and music. I’m approaching 71 and “Looking into You” ministers to me. It helps me look back and reflect on my relationships with people who have blessed me across life’s path, which have made life beautiful and meaningful. And I’m so grateful. Thank you, Jackson.
