One of the greatest. Amen.

One of the all time greatest duos ever, Browne and Lindley. JB is the quintessential singer/songwriter and Lindley is a band all by himself. Thanks for putting this up and may their music live forever!

As great as this live version is, the studio cut with Lowell on vocals and slide is way up there among the greatest recordings. What a song.

i am listening to JB and DL for more than 4 decades. great lyrics, jackson´s way to play the guitar, and david´s extremely warm and distinguished pedal steel.. simply wonderful.

A frickin masterpiece is an understatement. The lyrics/harmony/slide/phrasing. JB is the man!!
@waynerhodes4806 Жыл бұрын
For Jackson, I'm pretty sure one of the greatest benefits of playing so much with David was that, no matter how many times they played the same song to different audiences, David would play something new, great, unexpected, appropriate, and inspiring. Feel free to add your own adjectives.

Great song!! The great song poet !! No matter how fast I run I can never seem to get away from me..... no matter where I am I can't help thinking I'm just a day away from where I want to be...

Lindsey’s input always takes it to a higher level. Foreground, middle ground or background it just adds emotion for me. This audience just soak it up, no pointless hooting and hollering until it’s over.

I prefer waiting between songs before expressing any emotion also, when I'm at home, alone.

These words touch your soul. "Close your eyes, and try a few of these" I thought I was flying like a bird So far above my sorrow But when I looked down I was standing on my knees Now I need someone to help me Someone to help me please

That lyric always stood out for me as well - reminds me of a man in recovery, on his knees asking his Higher Power for help.
@ebmpaivaАй бұрын
It also refers to the innefrctiveness of drugs or alcohol for example, whenever you're feeling down. In the end it may feel like you're happier, but ultimately you're standing on your knees, crying for help.

Possibly Jackson's best song ever.. But it's a tough call. He has so many great ones. The Pretender, These Days, Jamaica, that one about dying men draw numbers in the air... so many great, great songs.

I'm sitting down by the highway Down by that highway side Everybody's going somewhere Riding just as fast as they can ride I guess they've got a lot to do Before they can rest assured Their lives are justified Pray to God for me baby He can let me slide 'Cause I've been up and down this highway Far as my eyes can see No matter how fast I run I can never seem to get away from me No matter where I am I can't help thinking I'm just a day away From where I want to be Now I'm running home, baby Like a river to the sea Baby, if you can see me Out across this wilderness There's just one thing I was hoping you might guess Baby you can free me All in the power of your sweet tenderness Yeah (yeah) Well, I can see it in your eyes You've got those bright baby blues You don't see what you've got to gain But you don't like to lose You watch yourself from the sidelines Like your life is a game you don't mind playing To keep yourself amused I don't mean to be cruel, baby But you're looking confused Baby if you can hear me Turn down your radio There's just one thing I want you to know When you've been near me I've felt the love stirring in my soul Yeah (yeah) Yes I have It's so hard to come by That feeling of peace This friend of mine said: "Close your eyes, and try a few of these" I thought I was flying like a bird So far above my sorrow But when I looked down I was standing on my knees Now I need someone to help me Someone to help me please Baby, if you need me Like I know I need you There's just one thing I'll ask you to do Take my hand and lead me To the hole in your garden wall And pull me through

Listening to this on 16 December 2022 - as relevant now as ever - indeed as I get older, and despite both success in business over the years and disappointment in relationships, I realise that, regardless of who, what and where I am, I look down and I am standing on my knees. Won't someone take my hand and lead me to the Promised Land

He's always been such a great songwriter - a true poet - but songs like these, when he was young and becoming aware, are just beyond great. What a great lyric and song, and with Lindley and I think that's Kortchmar as well. Just - no words. An American treasure.

Omg, I Frei so cheated, having such an awesome man be in LOVE with me: while I'm soooo self centered I let him go by. And that she would settle with a drummer for a night, throwing her would be FUTURE, back in his face. I don't want to remember anymore, Clyde, I'M SO SORRY, 😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥
