Does it have any distinct advantages compared to a recessed one? It seems to me like it has all the annoying bits of a recessed one, but can't be pulled up as far.

@@AustrianReaper not really. But I have a 1990 RR with a nom recessed Floyd and it happened to be the best playing guitar I ever had. Maybe it has something to do with the neck angle. You can still do pull ups

for a big Alexi fan it is a good alternative to those MIJ jacksons from 2007 but 2000$ still seems a little bit much for korean made... ebony fretboard seem a little bit light (maybe oiling it up will help), floyd 1000 and branded tuning pegs ? come on Jackson... But it is good to see that the non recessed floyd got enought neck angle to be able to pull up, in overall it looks like a great guitar but overpriced IMO, I'll keep my LTDs for now... Stocked you got that J-50bc, with an MM-04 you will be closer from that 2000" COB/Sinergy era tone, but if you can have a JE-1000... Have fun 🤘
@Anaklasis1
@Anaklasis1 7 ай бұрын
I could have gotten the JE-1000 with it but the MM-04 is a near exact replica with a little bit more low-end, so that's why I chose it instead. I'm sure I'd have loved the JE-1000 as well though.

I love this design. One of my dream guitars since i was a teenager. That said, it's a little bit overpriced for what is being offered and if I bought one I'd probably have to spend even more money to make it play like I'd would want it to play. For now I will leave it be. If a good deal comes in the future I will probably get one anyway. Thanks for the info and the demo!

Please, does the top mount Floyd still allow very, even extremely low string height, or strings sit high ?
@Anaklasis1
@Anaklasis1 4 ай бұрын
@@dekzan Yes. I have mine pretty low currently with 10 - 50 gauge strings on it and no real issues. I did throw in a bigger tone block which was initially hitting the string plate cavity if I pulled up but I adjusted it a very miniscule amount and this hasn't been an issue since. Worst case I could have also played with the spring cavity cover removed. I have a follow up video I'll be posting soon on this guitar, just been pretty busy lately.

Very nice! Great playing as well. Been thinking about ordering one of these. Have you tried putting the J50BC in it yet? Does it fit the pickup route in the body? One will not fit my RR24M that originally came with an EMG 81 in it. Not unless I remove the pickup cover.
@Anaklasis1
@Anaklasis1 6 ай бұрын
I would recommend pulling the trigger personally. This guitar plays excellent and is just so damned good looking. The top mount floyd is awesome looking. On the bit of the J50BC, I just got one installed into it and it fit in fine, but my pickup cover wasn't as huge as some of the ones I've seen out there. One of the old J50BCs that I had I ran into the same issue you mentioned where it was just a bit too big and clunky. The one I put in was uncovered when I received it but also came with the cover separately (I suspect it was a newer cover because it wasn't huge). Because of this it was a pretty easy install. I also removed the ABQ and threw in an MM-04. I'll post a new video soon with some clips

The neck heel on your new RR24 FR H is the same as on my RR1's, my '07 RR24 has the less abrupt neck heel like your gold one. As for the Floyd, it doesn't seem like they've used the 4 degree neck angle as the Floyd seemed relatively close to the body. Thanks for showing that, and the rest of the stuff. Overall I'm glad I didn't preorder one. Will you let us viewers know what it's like when you've modded and played it for a while?

@Anaklasis1

So far no issues with neck dive personally. Most of these Rhoads style guitars tend to balance pretty well I think just because there's so much more mass on the body than the neck and headstock.

awesome guitar. love jacksons. i know this is a nitpick, but wish these high end ones came in a hardshell, especially when you are spending over 2k. i know the main attraction is always the guitar, but having a hardshell come with your badass guitar is always welcome. anyways, thing is badass.

@@Anaklasis1 I’ve thought about getting that one in the past, but I have too many to justify having as it is. How does it compare to the older mij rr/4?
@Anaklasis1
@Anaklasis1 7 ай бұрын
@@griffinchandler8027 Both the Gold w Black and the White w Black were MIJ. I really like them and put a ton of time into those instruments when I got them. They were all around excellent guitars. The only issue I had with them was the nickel frets were worn in pretty well by heavy gauge strings. I'm usually an outlier on this issue though as a lot of other people haven't had that experience. The RR24MG with 2 pickups feels great as well. My favorite part of it is the unfinished neck. The RR24 FR H may be one of my favorites now though. The stainless steel frets as well as single pickup, no nonsense control scheme is exactly what I want in a guitar. My main guitar for more than 10 years now has actually been my LTD Alexi Blacky. I threw a Seymour Duncan Nazgul in it and it has been consistently the best sounding and playing guitar I own, even if it is pretty beat up by now.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the newer Korean rr24 with the H/S config. I have 2 of the old mij rr24s, and yeah, they play fantastic. I just hope the newer ones models are keeping up with the older ones. They look so cool, it’d be a shame if they didn’t play good
@Anaklasis1
@Anaklasis1 7 ай бұрын
@@griffinchandler8027 I'd say this newer one is. The only issue I've really had with it was the factory setup but that's such an easy fix. It sounds and plays really good. I have around 12 guitars or so but this one is definitely competing for the main guitar spot now with LTD Alexi Blacky.

Great video, informative and to the point. Overall it looks disappointing, fretboard is way too bright, the overdrive knob is borderline useless unless you decide to swap the pickup out and it’s way too overpriced for something that’s made in Korea and has questionable quality control. Compared to the old RR24s (you know the ones, red, yellow and white) this looks inferior, on top of being almost a thousand dollars more expensive. I am glad you didn’t waste too much time demoing an emg81. The damn thing sounds the same on a $5k instrument as it does on a broom handle.
