You also wrote or co-wrote "Love Child", "If I Were Your Woman", "My Whole World Ended", and "Love Hangover" for the Supremes, Gladys Knight and the Pips, David Ruffin and others. That, my friends, is R&B and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ROYALTY. I bow down! YOU HAVE BEEN OUTED! When u have time, please comment on the prolific nature of Michael learning a song, etc. Any other nugget on the Motown artists would be good as well.

I was in the J5 fan club. Had pen pals all over the world. Saw them in concert many times. Had the pleasure of meeting Michael, Janet, Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie and Ms. Katherine. Oh, I lived them so much. Today at 64 in 2022, I still love them. 😆

I disagree. Mike already. Master his style interms of singing once the mature voice came on listen to all his voice changed songs
@lelelew27354 жыл бұрын
@@tracydavis5253 yea I feel like his singing style in the future was manipulated into that way because they werent to sensitive by the fact that his voice was changing and still made them perform old songs that were to high without lowering the key... So before his voice fully crossed over he managed to force out the high notes by singing thru his nose which created the nasally voice he used in the future. Idk if he just liked the way it sounded or got used to doing it but i do know they damaged his confidence in his deep voice he looked at his deeper range as a bad thing which potentially lost us the chance of hearing him belt full range into his deep register which he was able to do but didn't like to. He was already a versitile singer but I feel the way they did him made him keep his voice in a box he didn't get to explore different sounds his voice could make and only wanted to train his falsetta and high voice. Just think of how much more of a vocal power house he couldve been if he was told its ok to sing in a bass voice your fans will still support u. We hear it alittle bit in Billie Jean but he never went all the way with it and I personally liked the sound of his lower register alittle better. Also having to force his voice higher also created the hiccup sound he did.. Im a fan of his voice Either way but it bothers me when people say mj wasn't that great of a vocalist because of his nasally sound and hiccups because he had a 4 octave range and he never used half of his range he had alot more to offer in his voice that we unfortunately never got to hear
@mssha19803 жыл бұрын
@@lelelew2735 I don’t think he sounded nasally. I agree he sung mostly high. For MJ I think he sung high for stylistic reasons. Lyric voices like his tend to shine in the higher register so maybe he was afraid of losing his identifiable sound. He would sing his backgrounds in his lower voice though. In the 90s and beyond he should’ve definitely started to sing lower
@lelelew27353 жыл бұрын
@@mssha1980 yea he was nasally on " baby be mine" " human nature" and more.. some like you said was for style to have a signature sound but he started singing nasally when his voice changed trying to hit the high notes..it was the only way he could force them out since they didnt lower the key.so my guess is he got used to singing like that any vocal coach would've corrected that and told him to sing in his natural deeper voice...but I dont think he had a choice people wanted to hear the old songs in the same key apparently lol ..I think his deeper voice sounded more natural at times and suited him like in " man in the mirror he has deeper moments and it sounded great or" rock my world" his voice sounded more smooth like he wasnt forcing anything.. and people say he could go into the bass range like in 2000 watts or lower but he never used it.. and I think it's a pity because if he made such an outstanding mark only using half of his vocal range then just think of the creative possibilities if he used his lower range more
@3912James3 жыл бұрын

You are so correct. On all these Jackson 5 posts all that people seem to see is Mike. They don't realize the Jackson 5 were a part of a musical movement. Each brother had talent in his own right. This was not like today's boy bands. The Jackson 5 could play live and bring down the house anywhere in world without a bunch of background dancers and backing tracks. They were the real deal.

The overall sound of the group changed as well. It was also on this album that he first employed what would later be known as his "vocal hiccup", notably on the song "It's Too Late to Change the Time".[3] As Motown frowned on any sort of control being relinquished to the group, Michael semi-retired the hiccup until his solo career at Epic Records began in earnest with Off the Wall in 1979.[3]

On the recording, it's just singing like he did as a child with a few vocal hiccups, but in the live performance you can hear a lot of his renowned affectations. Just listen to that "You don't have to go further." Inspiring. I'm recording a cover of this today.
