@@kevinmitchell766 Well, it's a bit of an issue as the oak was from a fireplace and had been dug by woodworms for centuries... Usually, if you make a guitar out of oak, it will sound pretty thin, but with the chambering and from being freaking dry... I think that those buying commercial replicas of his guitar are nowhere near from sounding like the real thing... Any way, I'm neither interested into signature guitars, nor by sounding like anyone. My fav'd guitar is neckthru with a hippie-sandwich, it's about 3 quarters of maple, a quarter of alder, 10% of the neck is a graphite bar instead of the trussrod and the fretboard is of phenowood, the wood mixed with phenolic resin being sawdust from Brazilian rosewood... AFAIK, I'm the only one owing two on the 46 ever built between 1991 and 1999 and from a psychoacoustic POV, there are only 2 things inducing the same effect on me, two Guarnerius violins, one is the "Vieuxtemps" used by Anne-Akiko Meyers, you know, the $18m one, the other has no price, it's owned by the city of Genoa and you need to win a contest to be allowed to play it, it's "Il Cannone", formerly owned by Paganini. You can't use these guitars as workmates, it's to intense, you'd end at the loonies if you play these all the time! When I had an US-Strat, had to fight to make it sound, there is no such issue there, but I have to fight to not enter in a transe instead!!!
