Did you guys park in the south lot? I think I saw the second guy in the video with the black hat on the ridge across from us walking back to the south lot early in the morning with a pack full. I was somewhere around 60 and picked up 2 sheds

I just recently went shed hunting in the highland mountains in Montana I wanted to go to the sun river opening but I had to work

@@Beaverhead_Antlers yeah I had some decent luck this year it’s not as good as it used to be but I always manage to find a few, I found a moose paddle up there this year which was cool, don’t see to many bull moose up there anymore but there’s elk everywhere

The shed hunt happens on the national forest above the refuge. No permit necessary right now, though I think next year it will be needed

A mile into our hike, I had 4 antlers in my hands and spotted a nice six point. I noticed a guy about 15 yards from it so I sprinted toward it. Right before I got to it, there was a drift. I tried running over it but tripped and face planted. I threw the antlers to the side and slid face first across the drift. Threw my pack off and sprinted to that shed, realized another small rag was just below me so I grabbed it too. Then I looked up and spotted two nice sheds side by side, at the same time as the other guy. Unfortunately, I had to sprint up a hill and he was already on the ridge. He beat me by five feet! 😂😢 Would have been my best year there if I were a tiny bit quicker
