Is Jackson not making the Big Rig anymore?

Went to a dealer thinking I was just going to see the new features, hoping those would be coming to the Coosa. And I'm a small guy. 5'8", 160. I thought the boat would overwhelm me, but the way they've designed it, it did not. I was very surprised when I first grabbed it. Owned a Bigwater last year. With the drive in that boat I had to use a little effort to move it. I'd say the Knarr is right there, even though it's a heavier boat. Not overwhelming at all. Great job, Jackson! Thanks for covering the boat again Chad!

Agree on the pedal crank throw. I have the shorter cranks on my P127, and feel they could be even shorter.

Same width and bottom of the BigRig for better stability and weight capacity with the floor plan of the Knarr.. maybe bulk up the seat and raise it 2".. and you've got the baddest big boy approved kayak Jackson has ever built.. Call it the Knarr BR!! The Knarr is AWESOME for people under 300lbs.. If you plan on rigging it with a IX3 and electronis with tackle I'd say 250lb.. but us 300lbs and up guys (especially us that plan on tournament rigging the boat) really want to see the Knarr BR in the near future lol

I've had my knarr for a month now great kayak but definitely needs some upgrades. Steering risers would be great. My biggest complain would be the crank arms on it I'm 5'7 seat all the way forward still almost to short for the pedals zero deck space and need to clean prop have to move seat almost all the way back to get to it. I think shorter arms would help a little. Other issue is having to adjust the steering cables every time I go and sometimes in the middle of fishing .

I’d have to see how it does in the ocean. I use my OLDTOWN 132 to pull lobster traps so stability and the ability to handle decent swells is super important to me.

Or buy a Hobie lol, sorry I really like Jackson kayaks but with limited funds I had to go with a $400 Lifetime Tamarack pro. No matter what, get a kayak out on the water and fish!! I always enjoy all your vids Chad

Loved the break down, especially the long legs/short torso aspect. I have repeatedly added risers to seats(lawnmowers, kayaks, etc.) so I understand. Just one disappointment in the video, as you were wearing shorts I think everyone would like to see you flip and water retrieve the Jackson Knarr. Alex does it all the time, so where is your sense of adventure. LOL I took my Native Titan 12 out a couple of weeks ago for that sole purpose. Very stable, I was able to flip it, but I had to work at it. Stay Safe, we'll keep watching.

That’s Aliex’s deal. He covers that well. You wouldn’t jump on a car or truck review channel and tell them to WRECK IT, even though that’s what most came to see. Glad you are okay

Chad, curious on the backwards torque on the Jackson pedal drives versus others you have tested. I hate landing a huge fish that ends up dragging you into the other fish...thoughts?

I would go with raising the seat, but not shortening the pedals. I've ridden bikes with long pedal arms vs short pedal arms and the power delivery you can give with a long stroke is much better than with short pedal strokes. The pedals are basically levers to turn the prop- looks like Chad still didn't have the seat adjusted forward enough for this trial-he had to use his extended legs to reach the pedal on the end stroke- that is too far away. (may have been just my perspective from the video angle).

It was 100% the perspective. I had it adjusted as best I could. Again, for me at least either the seat needs to be higher or the arms shorter. I have extensive design experience in this space and the thing about longer arms is that in the cycling world they provide leverage like you stated but you can also change gears, which you can’t do on a single speed kayak pedal drive. Additionally, in a true cycling application you are pedaling downward and able to utilize that leverage which you can’t do from a seated position where you aren’t recumbent and/or high enough to do so. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the feedback

Chad, this yak isn't for big dudes, especially for tournament rigging. They had to drop the weight capacity down to 425 for 475, but that's still too high for a bigger dude wanting to add an Xi3 or Newport like I had planned on. I'm 325, tried with xi3, didn't work. Tried with Newport, still didn't work. Even with a minimal tournament load last weekend, still had an inch or two of water behind my seat. If they would have just updated the Big Rig...
