You are my absolute favorite mommy youtuber. I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old. And none of my friends have any kids so it feels very isolating sometimes, especially because of covid. Your channel helps me so much. You inspire me to be a better mom, but also make me feel better about not having everything "perfect" My husband knows when I've been watching your videos because I'll be either reorganizing the house or doing new activities with my toddler 😂

Idk if you’ll see this BUT- My daughter is 13 months now and for a snack or when she doesn’t want ‘real food’, I give her a pouch. She really likes the freedom of walking around and feeding herself. If you go the pouch route, buy the ‘SOFT FOOD POUCH TOP’! It allows them to suck the purée out and prevents them from being able to squeeze the pouch and get the food everywhere. You can even buy reusable pouches from Amazon and make your own food! It has been life saving. Really!

Thank you for sharing this, especially the details of his play and how you're teaching him. My son is now 13 months (born 6 weeks premature) and I'm a SAHM trying to figure out what to do on a day to day to keep him learning and practicing milestones. My son is so similar to what you're experiencing too, thank you for your videos

Kayla don't be so hard on yourself! A lower percentile does not mean there's anything wrong. As long as he's growing, which he is, he is healthy ❤️. Both our sons (that are also close in age) were very similar in their sleep and naps! My LO 1st nap is 1.5 hrs and 1-1.5 hrs for the 2nd. I've had to go down to 1 nap recently because his wake windows are longer now. His 2nd nap would be at 4:30 if I did continue them which would've push the bedtime too late. Well, his 1 nap is still 1.5hrs but the night is an extra 30-45 mins. So yeah my dreams of a 2-3 hr nap were crushed. It's completely normal for them to not eat their meal. Keep rotating those meals 👍. Just keep in mind to not give too much milk, the emphasis is on food, especially iron. You're doing great!!

He’s growing up so fast! My son is 10 months and is walking and I’m like stop growing! My daughter didn’t walk until she turned 1. Only thing we are struggling with my daughter is speech because we speak English and Spanish and she gets confused. She understands both languages she just turned 2 and she can point at colors she knows what animas i tell her to point it’s her speech she is stuggling. Docotor told me she’s getting confused. She’ll say thank you, bye simple words but definitely working on it. But all kids are different and some learn slower then others but as moms all we can do Is work on it with them♥️

This is all so true. My girls are about to be one and we barley started solid foods because we tried around 7 months and they were just NOT ready. My girls have been floating in the 1-5 percentile their entire life and they are just small. We BARLEY got them sleeping through the night with the ferber method. Baby Jackson looks so happy and loved!

in Italy we have tables with weights for foods to be given when weaning babies. So xx gramms of proteins (meat, cheese, legumes and so on), xx gramms of carbs and so on. So I know how much I have to cook of a certain food for him every meal. I usually cook the same thing for everybody now because he is 17 mos old, but I give him a certain amout of food so that I know he ate enough. He doesn't want milk to sleep, he is content after dinner

I also live in Canada (Ontario) and my doctor suggested transitioning from formula to whole milk at 12 months old. I'm curious if maybe it is just a doctor specific thing or for different parts of the country.

I’m also in Canada and asked my doctor about starting a bit of whole milk before 1 to get my baby used to less breastfeeding when I return to work when he turns 1, and she told me they don’t recommend giving it before age 1 🤷🏻‍♀️. But the healthlinkBC site actually says between 9-12 months, so I’m guessing it must be a bit doctor specific.

He sleeps in till 8?!!! Dang lucky mama lol he might not be ready for 1 nap but his total sleep time is way normal. Maybe try waking him at 7 so he can nap at 10 and 2. But every baby is different. I thought we did this one already. I may be ahead or behind in my thinking due to the holidays. If your kids complain in later life about you rambling on about them, just tell them to go on Oprah or Dr. Phil or whoever is the chat host du jour then and they can ramble on about you and Joe. An easy to wash mattress is like finding a 4-leaf clover. You can hose it down. It is recyclable. This gets better and better. I love how verbal Jackson continues to be. An hour is not bad for him for nap length. Hope he's drinking all the milk since it's still a huge portion of his nutrition for the day. By the way, that blue sweater looks really good on you. He doesn't need large pieces, but he does need to eat actual chunks of food. Mastication is a biological process that is important to digestion. I'm not joking. He has teeth and he's getting more. If he isn't eating, it is likely that his mouth is hurting from teething or he just isn't all that hungry that day. We all get days when food is not such a big deal for us. We all get in a "food mood" from time to time. Don't you get days when you don't know what you want and if you are really hungry? Well, you can always eat eggs. So can I. You know what I mean in terms of a type of lethargy about something that disappears as quickly as it arrived. Here today, gone tomorrow. In addition to their legs, their backs have to have the strength to walk, so his body could be waiting to depend on his back. He will just walk one day when he's ready. Also, he knows most of the words for things you do and use with him. He just cannot say them yet, but he recognizes them. He can follow certain instructions, but cannot give them yet. He will get comfortable with getting all the sounds out. But all the sounds he makes are him verbalizing with you. He will develop at his own pace. And he will be ahead of Riley in some things even.

Does she like cheese, yogurt etc? I would just focus on giving all food groups at every meal and getting enough calcium. If you make smoothies you can add dairy or even non-dairy (as long as its fortified) as well as spinach and she will get so much nutrition! I wouldn't stress, just make sure they eat a diverse diet with enough calories and calcium ♥️

The guidance may be different in the 🇺🇸, but here in the 🇬🇧 as long as a baby is over 12months and has a varied diet including enough nutrition there's no need for whole milk. You can give a variety of foods instead like cheese, eggs, meat (or vegan equivalents), seeds, nut butters, beans, avocado, tofu eta. Just thought I'd share incase anyone is stressing about transitioning to cows milk becuase their child doesn't like it. No need to stress. Kids don't need cows milk, they just need the nutrition that is in it. So look at what's in cows milk and just replace the nutritional content with equivalent foods 👍😊

@@helmakainhofer3732 I will say it's 100% not true because it's not. A 1 year old does not have the mental capability to fear for their life, I don't know what studies you're talking about but I can tell you they are not legitimate. I have done research but I also have common sense. I don't need you to argue with me because there is nothing you can say that will convince me of what you're saying.

I really enjoy watching your family, but I can’t help but feel so upset that you would let him scream for half an hour before comforting him 😔 I know we all parent our own way but it really upsets me that you do that. Each to their own though 💕

You didn’t give him a choice with the sleep he gave up crying and accepted you wasn’t going to come... he had to deal with you leaving him to cry he didn’t make that choice you did. So sad babies have to go through this. They communicate by crying and you as a mother ignore that so you could get some sleep. How selfish

Do you have children? Regardless, please don’t mom shame. Sleep training with the Ferber method is not about letting babies cry themselves to sleep. They are checked on constantly.

Yes they are checked on every few minutes but wouldn’t that confuse a 6 month old as to why isn’t mummy picking me up or comforting me? They are babies. I would say don’t have kids if you want to leave then to cry

@@samihussain8823 They are comforted. And they learn how to put themselves to sleep more on their own which is a vital skill. If babies aren’t getting good sleep, sometimes sleep training is necessary. Sleep is critical to all aspects of their development.

@@dolphynlvr4 you have your opinions of letting babies cry it out and leaving them to cry for half an hour or so and I believe babies need their mothers with them if they are distressed. So what if it means you sleep with your baby in the same room as long as baby is happy and comforted that’s all that matters. Letting them cry because YOU want space and your Time to do things is straight up child neglect. Your neglecting your child when they are crying for you. You wouldn’t ignore them in the day why at night when it’s dark and scary. Doesn’t make sense. Kids don’t learn to self soothe until ages 4 and up. When your kid hurts them self they come to you right... for comfort and a hug and a kiss?

It's very hypocritical that you promote safe sleep by saying you like that the mattress is breathable and you worry about him suffocating, seeings how you had both Riley and Jackson in your bed with you and Joe the first 6 months of their life, which is the number one cause of infant loss. Not to mention the fact you literally put rolled up towels in his playpen. Maybe pick another brand to partner with.
