This song is a tribute to his father. Joost father died when he was very young. one year later he lost his mother. He started to travel around Europe. As a young one he and his family watched Eurovision. He told his father he would be on that stage someday. His father told him there are no limits/borders to reach for what ever you want. And now Joost is on Eurovion. Joost Klein dream BIG

The correct translation is 'Welcome to Europe, i will stay here till i die', as in he does not WANT to leave, cause he loves it 😁. Partyyyyyyyyy!!!

Little bit of background on this song. He was creative from a very young age and also a bit different. His father said that there are no boundaries and he should follow his dreams. They always watched the Eurovision Songfestival together so as a kid he replied that his dream would be to go to the Eurovision Songfestival. Then his dad passed away when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. For inspiration and acceptance of the loss of his parents he travelled trough Europe. Therefore he sings that the pain and emptiness stayed with him no matter where he went. He paid for mental help but it did not work for him. Still he managed to be a very positive and joyful person as reflected in this song. He sings about the song Papaoutai from Stromae that is also about missing his father. In all of this he managed to combine lot's of cultural aspects of different European countries and the Netherlands. Without the layer of his personal life you will notice that a lot of elements can directly be related to the European countries. The young boy and the old man represent him and his father struggling trough life and his father being an example for him. The windmill is near where he spend his youth so also a trip trough memory lane to him. The final emotional scene represents him as a kid and his father when it all ended, the burning of the family photo and the building represents that you need to move on in life and not be stuck in the past. In the end he tells that he listened to his father (there are no borders for your dreams) and refers to him going to the Eurovision Songfestival. So winning would be optional, his goal was participation.

The brief story of Europapa by Joost Klein: His parents died when he was a kid. His father to cancer at the age of 12, and his mother to a cardiac arrest at the age of 13. So he was orphaned at age 13 and brought up by his brother and sister. Joost has written Europapa as a letter to his father. His father told him the world has no borders. Borders are made up by humans and so you can create your own world, and that’s what Joost is doing every day from that day on. After the death of his parents, he started searching for the meaning of life and relief of his pain by traveling, but never actually found it there. He gave people money (psychologists) to help him, but that did not work. Until he realized that he still had time and options to realize his dreams. After all, the world has no borders right? And so he did. The burning house in the end represents losing but also moving on, in a positive way. Burning your bridges: no longer controlled by pain + sadness, but focused on your dreams. Without borders. Joost always said to his parents that one day he would go to Eurovision and that day is here and now. 12 points to The Netherlands!

Joost lost his dad to cancer when he was a teenager +/- 13 years old, and his mother died from a heart attack a year later. ""Those who laugh the brightest most always have the heaviest loads they carry around, where ever they travel that backpack of experiences is always there, they can't escape from that, be as free a spirit as you can be, respect your elders, don't waste your time, and an ode to his dad credo""borders are stupid"", and Ubuntu(*)"" This sums up Europapa (papa is Dutch for Daddy) for me, it is true Art and a masterpiece by Joost (Joast) Klein (kline). (*) Ubuntu (Xhosa(a South African tribe language) for "we are all as one"") is the most prolific, important, eye-opening, life-changing word I have learned in my 58 years of being an earthling. Ubuntu to you, fellow earthling :) Btw Klein means small in Dutch. Joost Klein, dream big

@@JacksonPierce Your so welcome to it. I prior to 9 days ago did not know about Joost at all, and this bomb hit me. Now I know just a little about him, and you know what I absolutely love this guy, I'm proud of and for him. To bad you cant understand Dutch, I've been through all of his songs by now and you must know, you are missing out. He is a beautiful person who shares his soul, he is impressive and then some. OMG words fall short..He makes me laugh he , he makes me think, he makes me cry, Ubuntu.

👌Top video👌 (This is the background and meaning of Joost Klein = 'Europapa') This is what Joost said about the song: "'Europapa' is a tribute to my father. The song is a letter I wrote to my father, who died when I was a teenager." 'Europapa' is about an orphan who travels throughout Europe (and surrounding areas) to find himself and tell his story. My father gave me a broad view of the world. Boundaries are made by people, but my father told me that you can also set boundaries yourself by thinking out of the box. At first people didn't know me, but I continue to take every opportunity to show myself. When people see my act, the first response should be, “What's going on here?” and ultimately it touches people and makes them think. 'Europapa' initially seems like a very cheerful act, but behind that lies a deeper message. (Background info from Joost Klein) Joost Klein (26) is from the Netherlands. Joost, is a Dutch musician, rapper, singer and former KZbinr. He is primarily a hip hop artist and his songs and performances often incorporate influences from electronic music, such as drum 'n' bass, hardstyle and gabber. Joost also writes poetry At the age of twelve he lost his father to cancer. A year later, in 2011, his mother died of cardiac arrest. After the death of his parents, Joost was cared for by his older brother and sister. {Sorry, for errors in your language, I translated this using Google Translate}

no problem. I personally don't know if this will be the winning song, but the message is very strong. I also understand that if you don't know Dutch and you don't know Joost's story, it might be confusing or possibly misinterpreted. ✌❤ ✌❤@@JacksonPierce
