Jackson was found in a village half an hour from Freetown. We were alerted to his presence by a local contact, and found him being cared for by approximately 30 young children in unsanitary conditions. Luckily he was bright and alert, appeared to be in good health, and with a spunky personality! Upon his arrival to Tacugama, he jumped right into Mama Posseh's arms as though he had been waiting for her.
Jackson has now joined our other quarantine arrival, Jackie, and they are getting along wonderfully. They have brought out each other's personalities and are learning to use the forest with great skill!
Unfortunately this means the wildlife trade continues in Sierra Leone, and that a family of chimps was likely killed to procure Jackson. We continue to educate and sensitize the country to wildlife conservation and poverty alleviation through alternative livelihood.
Your support helps Tacugama continue these programs and provide the necessary care for the orphans that keep arriving at our doorsteps. Join our adoption challenge and donate now at www.tacugama.com/how-you-can-h...
