JSU's sound is top tier 👌🏾 minus the minor tempo issues..they did an excellent job 👏🏾 ASU sounded amazing as well they have a very strong lower brass 👌🏾 . I give the W to JSU simply because in my opinion they have a more mature, balanced, and polished sound. Shout out to the Stingettes and J-Settes too, both captians were dancing🔥🔥 bringing that heat.

@@portcityboy251Because Jsu has an issue with over-arranging songs trying to keep up with the Jones’s and prove to Southern fans that they can hang. The Youngboy battle in the zero quarter was the perfect example of this 🤦🏽‍♂️ like what’s with all the unnecessary parts that they created (not from the actual song) and add just for a loud affect? The ending didn’t even sound like the song anymore because of this.

Good 5th from both bands. ASU was cleaner in their articulation and when it was times in the music for certain sections to bring the part out or lay back they executed it for the most part. Their song selection was better too. JSU had the more complex pieces but at times certain sections weren’t being heard like they should have been some of that due to the arrangement or just not putting enough air through the horn in those sections of the music, that balance is needed in those moments to make the song sound full though it’s duration. Good close battle but the edge goes to ASU.

My Thoughts: This was a good battle, I liked the song selection and transference of energy from each. Dancers looks great, both bands have good low brass sections. ASU got some kicking btones. Wheww. I think what gave jsu the win for me was there blend/balance was better and they upper brass and woodwinds had more confidence and were heard more. I graded it as I went but I have a lean jsu win. Some execution and tempo issues on both sides but jsu was slight more consistent! Grades: JSU - 2 2 3 1 2 = 10 (win) ASU - 1 2 1 2 2 = 8
