Boom been running a gauntlet on the SWAC so far this year. Valley on the come up but they still got alotta coming up to do. Im not feeling most of their arrangements and most of their sound, at least compared to Boom. But you can definitely see they've improved their sound... Them arrangements though..... 🥴.

Well, the difference is clear!!!! One program is more polished, better blended, has stronger fundamentals, has a fuller sound, and arrangements fit their instrumentation and strengths. The other is a couple steps behind in all those crucial areas. With time and consistent support MVSU can be an A1 program. JSU took this easily. They haven't let off the gas the whole season!!!

My thoughts: JSU has a crispy blended sound one of the best of the year. MVSU focuses on power and energy a lot. Sometimes it pays off others it just don’t. I still stand on musicianship reigns king in battles. JSU exudes in this. This battle was like watching Varsity (jsu) scrimmage Junior Varsity (MVSU) what I mean is MVSU has the potential but not the seasoning and execution; jsu has both and they believe in what they are playing. And like on another level MVSU sounds like “many individuals many sounds” while jsu sounds like “one band one sound” one thing that’s interesting musicality wise “how is MVSU loud but also lowkey thin at times too”; only thing jsu could work on is at times the btones can sound a little thin but I think it’s a phrasing thing….. JSU a clear winner. JSU book and execution combo was scarily good. JSU: 2 2 1 2 2 2 1 2 = 14 (w) MVSU: 1 0 1 1 1 1 0 1 = 6

Valley has growing pains and you can hear. They went from less than 100 members to over 300 and gotten bigger than what their britches can bear. the Boom has the W. However, I got high hopes for Valley and if they maintain this size and instrumentation, they will be a force to deal with.
