Valley for the win. Seems like the trumpets have definitely cleaned themselves up ( the entire band also ) since the game against JSU. If people listened to Valley's arrangements instead of being a full time hater they'll realize that the songs they played this 5th quarter were actually very good and impressing. Execution improved too. Great responses to alcorn's songs valley. Impressed

Valley sounds waaaaaaay better than last week, which is nice to see. Loud as hell too. I still maintain that the arrangements and selection need improvement (It's either something loud or marching tempo), but I appreciate how much they've cleaned up. This was the first time I heard a gospel song in the 5th and I didnt cringe, so shoutout to Alcorn for that. I've enjoyed their approach to 5ths for most of the season. Lots of uptempo, groovy song selections, with a ballad or rap tune sprinkled in for variety. Have Alcorn taking this pretty clearly. Enjoyed both, but their arrangements and selection did more for me than Valley's aggression. I see this being a rivalry similar to how Alcorn and Dega used to be. Should be cool to see more of through the years

Valley cleaned up from the JSU game. Honestly l think Valley thought pushing watts was all that was needed but sitting in front of JSU they heard the difference. I’ve been waiting for those attacks to clean up and now they hear the difference in their power when it’s clean . Proud of them and next year they’ll be a problem just need more time together and they’ll have a bigger book. They’re coming !!!

Valley has a “big” band but the sound is Mid…They’re loud but at the wrong times. The trumpet hanging over is taking away from the finesse of the songs. Alcorn is small this season but song selection and a well balance sound is their strong suit. Alcorn for the dub, but valley didn’t lay down.

Yes Valley did get a wake up call from last weekend. However, it was from not being pleased with their own performance. Not from the comments from the haters or anything JSU did. Contrary to what the JSU fans may think they weren't that great themselves last week. There are better bands out there nowadays that don't get the recognition. Valley is young and is on a learning curve to really find themselves. They have been too complacent and overconfident and needed that slap in the face. Focusing on getting and maintaining their numbers resulted in somewhat lax discipline in my opinion. Need a greater emphasis on musicianship and drills.

My thoughts: This was an interesting battle but in reverse of what I expected to happen. Valley studies they mistakes and sounded better in this outing vs alcorn; alcorn sounded tired in the chops at times but also lack of numbers really hurt them in this battle they’ve got the arrangements but they lacked on execution; valley did just enough good on execution and had good enough arrangements with color and blend to win this battle slight valley W imo.
