First of all, kudos to the Jackson State band program for still being able to find the time to practice and coordinate logistically attending games and practices giving their experiences during the Jackson water crisis. I think that both bands did an absolutely wonderful job, both sound really good!Personally, I enjoyed Jackson State‘s band better. I enjoyed their aggressiveness, arrangements, and execution much better. One of the better SHC battles! Hats off to both bands BOOM & AOB!

I understand that some people may have given jsu the W and personally I understand why. Now to say TSU sound high schoolish or to think that jsu blew them out is simply ridiculous. Killing me softly was a great arrangement because it was just like the song on the radio and it had style. It was not a high school arrangement nor are any of tsu arrangement ,so if those are your thoughts then I question your understanding of music. Jsu is one of the best that ever did it and Tsu is also one of the best that ever did it. Wonderful 5th but to me it's a tie but can understand if someone says jsu got the w or if tsu got the w. No blow outs here.
@LordDreek-Amen-Ra2 жыл бұрын

When all else fails, just say the Boom doesn’t play with dynamics and suddenly everybody has a PhD in music lmao. This is a BATTLE, not the damn Carnegie Hall. Most of these bands don’t truly play with dynamics, just a simple crescendo here or there and at the end. That impresses y’all? 😂😂 Simpletons. I appreciate the Boom for saying f*ck all that, and just pushing sound and power across the field. They stick true to their identity. Also, this argument about the use of dynamics in marching band battles is SILLY. True use of dynamics is multidimensional and has moving parts. If a band were to execute that in an outside stadium, you wouldn’t be able to hear all the parts across the field. Then y’all would be complaining about volume. This is how I know most of y’all aren’t actually musicians. Just armchair band directors. If I want TRUE dynamics, I’m going to buy tickets to a orchestra concert. If I’m coming to see a marching band, I want it to be so loud I want my wig blown back off my head.
