Every year you wait to give a contract the more the price goes up. Sign them early if you are sure you are going to keep him.

For real… idk if its stroud or both but dude did all that and MISSED SIX GAMES…. He would have probably been over 1200 yards and double digit TD’s as a rookie… AT HIS SIZE… dudes a tough SOB

3 year extension plus the last remaining year = 4 more years. His first two years he was under the vaunted Lovie Smith offense with Rookie Davis Mills plus he had various injury issues that he has talked about and changed some of his training habits. Texans fans are very upbeat about this. Nico is 6'4", a physical runner and has excellent speed

I feel like there's not enough conversation about how this deal ends the same year as Tank Dell's rookie contract expires

Surely that was intentional… its really gonna come to availability and production… if tank dell can have a healthy career…. Gonna be hard to keep both of these guys… hell… even if dell has some injuries… dudes a helluva player… he’ll be getting paid too

As a Texans fan he was worth the contract because if he had a similar year this upcoming season we would have had to pay him almost 30 million. Nico always had the talent but injuries and bad QB play kind of hampered him on what he can really do. Now with Demeco Bobby and CJ at the helm you’re seeing what he can do. He a big body WR that can go up there and make the though catches and he sneaky fast too because he can get a lot of YAC yards. So yeah Nico deserves the money and as long as we have CJ Nico can show why he one of the better WRs in the league

Nico Collins had injury issues early in his career. He also had some of the worst qb's throwing to him. So he didn't get to show his true abilities.

He’s not getting paid like a top 10 Wr. He’s still on rookie deal. So next season he’s gonna a be making 3 Mil. The year after he’s gonna be making 25mil per year. By then Jettas, Chase, and CD will get paid. He’ll never actually be a top 10 paid WR.

So l'm not a texans fan but just looking at his stats and injury history my impression is he's a pretty above average WR when healthy, but struggles to stay healthy. Even last year in his lone "mostly healthy" season he started only 15 games, and the previous two only 7 and 8 due to injuries. Draft shark has his "chance of injury in 2024" as 82.1% and his per game chance of injury at 10%. In his rookie season he suffered a shoulder injury that caused him to miss 3 games, then later a foot injury that limited his usage, then later he sprained his hip, then in his sophmore year he suffered a grade 1 groin pull, then later another foot injury, then last year he suffered a calf injury that took him out for 2 games, so pretty much his entire body from top to bottom is having issues rather then just one weak spot, and he's yet to get through even one full season with out missing games as a result. To me, that's the big worry with this contract, not that he's not good enough to justify it, but that he's not durable enough earn it. On paper, he appears to lack the most important ability, availability. Hopefully it works out for the Texans but on the surface it reminds me of the Kyler Murray extension, who also looked incredible when healthy, but just couldn't seem to get through a full season with out injuries that at minimum severely limited him, and ironically he missed FAR less games then Collins has thus far. Yet they gave him that big extension anyway, then he missed half of his next 2 seasons with another major injury. Kyler was ALSO coming off his first truly great year, like collins, and yes yet to stay healthy enough long enough to look truly great again, but we'll see what 2024 brings for them both.

I mean this was the only thing that made it not obvious. Caserio is betting on his health . But seeing how he gained more muscle and no serous injuries I really don't see him missing out for long. Also we don't need to force the ball to him.

Well the good news is that they don't have to rely on him as much as they did last year cuz of tank Dells injury and now he is fully healthy And have diggs it's going to be alot easier and less stress for him to go through

Bad coaching on a bad team with below average QBs will get a WR hurt and thats what Nico had for two years. He's paid his dues and came into his own and got rewarded for it and not just in salary. He has an actual team now that has his back and with Diggs he wont get double teamed or forced into traffic which will keep him healthier.

He's bulked up thankfully and he has more receiving help. I won't be that concerned with his health at all, if he repeats his monster 2023 year he will easily be a top 10 WR with an insanely friendly deal.
