Mk7 GTI Dual Air Inlet Scoops and Euro Block Off Plate - Testing the OEM+ Intake Set Up

Kind of a reupload but kind of not. I went ahead and added the passenger side intake duct with the euro spec block off place for the upper intake system. I also did some little testing examples to show how they work and that more air gets directed into your intake system!

I own a Mk7 and I still cannot believe what a horrible stock intake VW uses. From the day I started modding my car, I wanted to do something about the intake. I tired stuff like this and tried to get as much air in as possible and I gave up with it and put an aftermarket intake on. Much, much better. I'm getting 42 mpg on the highway too. It was at 62 but the free-flowing air that isn't restricted is well worth it, considering that Mk7s get about 30mpg from the factory.

I have a aftermarket intake can’t I just cut out the rectangle and not install the vents 🤷🏽‍♂️ so that I have the rectangle cut outs and my intake I’ll be okay?

is there any down sides / negatives to adding the block off plate??? I live in nyc with heavy traffic and do a lot of "maneuvers" while driving lol.. would this benefit me positively or negatively?

I think there is no benefit at all blocking the air into the engine bay bro, want to keep intake manifold and engine bay as cool as possible and with the drilled holes on the intake side plenty of air going to the air box.

I doubt that one little open slot is cooling the engine bay significantly. It's a European part that's meant to go on the car.

The sticker stencil did not want to stay stuck on the plastic so it was some guessing involved too.

Does this cause your water temp to be higher? How about radiator fan does it cycle more frequently? I ask because of the scoops aren't they blocking air flow (somewhat) to the radiator, A/C and intercooler? OR is it insignificant? Also, rain and snow has an easier path into your air box possibly? These are all valid concerns I think. That said, I like this simple mod if overall engine life is maintained.

Anything being blocked would be insignificant. I don't notice any difference.

I hate that porter+cable air compressor. Most of the common 6g pancake compressors are made by the same company. DeWalt, craftsman, porter cable, Bostitch, Stanley, black and decker, all the same company. Then there's metabo and rigid which are slightly less common but still everywhere. Plus your random bargain brands. But somehow, out of all of them, the porter and the craftsman are the worst. They're somehow the loudest, the hottest, and the least powerful of them all while also usually being the most expensive. Theyre more comparable to the bargain brand compressors which are like 2/3 the price. The metabo is $50 cheaper, quieter cooler and more powerful. The dewalts and bostichs have better cooling and are also quieter and some have a higher PSI. Metabo makes a 200PSI pancake. Rigid has more power and is alot cheaper. I think porter uses the oldest design

What about during heavy rainfall. Won’t moisture that gets sucked into the air filter, cause problems for the car? That’s why the original one was designed that way

The original design is very restricted and made like that because of sound and emissions. Or maybe just poor design. Look at all the aftermarket intakes, the best have a similar design, e.g. Eventuri.

Doubt anything noticeable
