The school is called Lackawanna Elementary School which later on in the late 90s became an alternative school. I went there for both. The neighborhood you're in is Lackawanna. I was raised there

I’m aware, I discuss the school’s history in the video. Thanks for the information and for watching!

D.J.s Records has been there since I was a kid, I used to purchase my concert tickets from them when I was a kid.

I was thrilled when I walked inside, it felt like stepping into a piece of my past. As one of the biggest young DJs in South Florida, we contributed to the decline of Jam Pony's popularity in Fort Lauderdale by taking over the scene. Back then, records and tapes were everything. Seeing a store that still has all of that felt like being a kid again at Disney World. Thanks for watching!

The first part of town was Lackawanna, sadly it is in decline and it is so rich of history. Breaks my heart. That record shop is an absolute legend on the westside. It nearly went out of business until the vynals came back into style. The school is still very much in use. It is mostly storage, no kids go there. Just a place to store super old records. They are starting to clean it out in preperation to demo it. Gotta go to the snak shak one day. Place is legit! Gotta spend sometime downtown. School number4 is pretty cool, just dont get caught. Also, go to riverside and murray hill. Check out the open places too

Thanks for sharing that info with me! I checked out the school in another vlog, but I didn’t go inside or explore as many areas in Jacksonville. Here’s the link! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXndqaqpo82deMksi=1oItgMjVIJ4E1u_x

Hate to say this, but Jacksonville needs to step its game up. Im from Florida, South Florida, lived in the FL Panhandle. Ive been to West Palm Beach, Miami, Ft Lauderdale and I dont see too many run downed areas in those areas as of late. Those areas have redevelop so much of their downtowns and inner cities areas, but Jacksonville is decades behind. Example, right off of Arlington Expressway in Jacksonville, there is the condemned FBI complex, which was abandoned by the federal police agency since 2008 and there it sits abandon with the windows blown out just decaying. You dont see that in South Florida. Just a sad look for Jacksonville which growing by leaps and bounds.

I completely agree with you! I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, and it's tough to come across abandoned or rundown buildings there. But in Jacksonville, just drive through downtown and you’ll find them. Thanks for your input and for watching!

This area is mostly industrial. Which really leaves alot to be desired looks wise. The fbi buildings are my biggest headache. Owners are in israel and they keep doing just enough to leave us (the city) unable to demo those buildings. The ones up front next to jims place werent apart of the fbi layout, the fbi building is behind jims place. All of the buildings are owned by the same people, which hopefully a court should order demo soon. Ill be happy to see them go.

If you ever travel the northwestern panhandle of Florida. Two towns you might want to check out is Greenville Florida where Ray Charles was born, there is even a singing statue of him in the City Park.Another interesting town is Wewahitchka about 22 miles north of Mexico Beach, another interesting place.Wewahitchka is the home of the Dead Lakes,Tupelo Honey and the filming location of the 1997 movie Ulees Gold starring Peter Fonda and Jessica Biel which was her first movie which won a Golden Globe award.Just some interesting towns off the beaten path.

Depends on the neighborhood-I have lived here since 1964 and there are a lot more good areas than bad ones.Edgewood and Moncrief, parts of Lane Ave and Old Middleburg Road,40th and Pearl...don't believe it's all bad-it's not.

I know, I did a short video about Lackawanna and its history. Before becoming a school for troubled kids, Lackawanna was the first school where Black and White students attended together. The home of the first Black student who went there was bombed by the KKK. Check out my KZbin Shorts to learn more. I only filmed that area so far; the area out east is next. Thank you for sharing that location. I'll be filming there soon.
