Jack misread the map at 6:29, the darker the colour the MORE people are getting LESS than 7 hours of sleep per day. I'd assume this is because the east has more cities and hence more 9-5 style office jobs compared to the more agricultural jobs out west.

I am from Coruña and yes, the city is really small. You can walk from one side to another in 20-30 minutes. It's like a tiny peninsula that was widen to fit more people. And we have the oldest lighthouse, still functional, in the world. Hercules tower. Coruña (province) is were Santiago's cathedral is, where everyone walks to.

Sweden and Finland get more sunlight due to the specific heat capacity of land compared to water. Long story short, continental air masses tend to descend in winter, giving clear skies, whereas maritime climates are warmer and cloudier. Edit: due to their proximity to Asia/Russia. This is why easterly winds in the winter often bring the coldest weather to the Uk.

True and to add to that they are in a bit of a rain shadow from Norway. The west coast of Norway get a lot of rain so not as much falls on the other side of the mountain range. In the winter, the skies can be completely clear and northern Sweden and Finland would still have no sunshine... 🙂

3:12 This map isn’t fully accurate, it seems like it may be out of date, so I’ll explain the few things missing. - Kazakhstan has official Google street view coverage as of today, not marked on this map. - Sao Tome and Principe also has official Google street view coverage as of today, which is also not marked on the map. - Lebanon also got official Google street view coverage recently, but it also isn’t marked on the map. I don’t know if Liechtenstein is included or what, but that also got Google street view recently. Update (28th of October): Oman now has official street view as well!

6:30 I know there is usually not really ever a problem with Jack misreading a map, but he is wrong here, that’s why reading the legend is important. The map is displaying the percentage of people who get less than 7 hours of sleep, and the darker the color, the higher the percentage, so it is the other way around than what he was saying.

I love the word spelk. For me it's a splinter that's tiny enough to get caught under your skin, or light enough when on fire to rise up from an open fire and fly up the chimney. Splinter seems to be a Dutch loanword but spelk goes back to Old English. It means a little "spill" - which is a thin stick used to carry a flame from one place or another, typically from the open fire to a pipe or cigarette when I was a kid in the 60s. You used to be able to by spills in boxes from tobacconists, and most people with an open fire had a box on their mantlepiece.

8:09 it says jaguar for both North and South America, and yes, technically those 2 big cats are closely related, but in North America it is a puma/cougar/mountain lion, which is not the same as a jaguar. (Yes, there are pumas in South America, I know, and yes, Mexico is in North America and they have jaguars.)

About a year ago, when I lived in Australia, I actually went to a small restaurant across the road from Big Merino. I later learned that the statue was the tallest in the continent.

11:28 Actually, the most densely populated "area" more populated than a small town in Spain (and in Europe) is Hospitalet de Llobregat, a mid-sized city next to Barcelona with a rather small territory.
