I was Jack. Now I’m recovering from a VERY painful infected skin cancer surgery on top of my head. I have not slept in weeks from pain. I trace my sun damage to my Hawaii burns and thinning hair over 30 years ago. The damage starts at a very young age.😢

Jack, sunscreen doesn’t just protect you from sunburn now, but especially from skin cancer later in life. Most cancer patients got too much unprotected sun when they were young, which shows up later in life.

Jack, this is even better than your ALL of your last videos. It is well edited, entertaining with beautiful photography while bringing home the best and wildest parts of the Caribbean. I think your decision on going to Tonga is a great one where you will be able to pass on all of the knowledge you have gained over the years at sea . After your experience, I am sure it will still be an adjustment for a time. All your of your family's videos have been so enjoyable particularly while we have been enduring a somewhat stormy winter on the coast of Maine with twin storms in early January that reminded us that sea level rise combined with tidal surge, astronomical high tides along with the influences of El Nino can produce damaging 90 to 100 year storms. Sadly sea level rise is everywhere. We never should underestimate the power and beauty of nature particularly our oceans. You have demonstrated that well in your videos. Good luck to all of you as the saga comes to an end and you move on to the next adventure.

Certainly, individuals like you who have been influenced by mass marketing towards consumer products often encounter issues. Nowadays, everything is filled with toxins. If you reflect on the past, it was not like that. You probably believe in the ice age, global warming, that we are running out of air, and that cows fart is the problem for "global warming."

Hi Jack…. Just wanted to share that I enjoy you and your family’s journey. I sent the message below to Zatara and your family (This one is a bit edited). Just wanted to make sure it didn’t get lost. Enjoy the rest of your adventure, and your brother’s and sister’s. And of course your parents! You are all awesome! Even tho you like Chick Fil’a lol, Enjoy becoming a Captain! See you on your next adventure! Best places I’ve been…. Tenerife, Spain or Prague, Czech Republic…. But your channel and both your son’s are why I watch Zatara!… Fin’s is how I found yours and Jack’s. Plus Med Crew! Love you all! I’ve sailed up to my late teens….some of the best memories I have made. So your journey’s have resonated with me. Sailed on the HMS Endeavor Replica as a Top Gallant Main Mast Crew Member for 6 days, many years ago when I was 18… I’m now 44. I do have pics of that somewhere lol. Just google HMS Endeavor….it now tours in Australia. Jack, Enjoy your final destination after sailing all over the world like Captain Cook on the Endeavor! … I hope you achieve your dream of becoming a Captain. You deserve it! Lesh Go! Or wait…. What’s your tag line? How about…. Let’s Defy Gravity! That’s what you seem to do! Good luck. Happy Journeys to you and your Family, -Peter

Jack, this is a great video. The most important thing in this video, the one thing that tells the story, is the line "I'm trying to spend as much time with my family .....before I go off and do my own thing....." yada yada. That is what underlines everything else that you showed us. It is the INTERNAL story for you in this video. It ties everything else together. That's the greatest thing about your mom's videos. That internal element was usually there, either implicitly or explicitly. Still waiting to hear from your dad about the Privilege people. Nudge him for us a bit, would you. Even if he's decided it's not a good idea to share, tell us that. His internal story is very important, too. Keep up the good work, even if you don't think it's good. ;)

Great video Jack. And I do hope you will be continuing the videos once you leave Zatara and head off on your own. We will all be wanting to see what you get up to. As for the sunscreen debate going on in the comment section. Mate, do your research and go with your gut feeling, because you are right so far. Don't put poisons onto your body that are unnecessary. There is no scientific evidence out there proving that it stops cancers, but there are plenty of people who say there are studies to show that the chemicals are harmful. If anyone is concerned about sunburn and indeed cancer, then only expose your skin to limited amounts of direct sunlight in the height of summer, then cover up. Broad brimmed hat, loose fitting long sleeve shirts etc. They have proven to be the most effective and also they don't contaminate your skin.

First on his ear, then his calf, which spread to his lymphatic system. His infusion therapy makes him very weak and he has to have it every three weeks for a year. He grew up In Santa Barbara, CA, worked on fishing boats, was a lifeguard and was generally outside daily just like you. My Grandfather died at 69 yo from skin Cancer. They didn’t have sunscreen then, but you do! Please use it! One day your wife and children, and grandchildren will thank you for it. You’re too smart not to protect your life! God bless.🙏
