JACKYL is Hair Metal and not Southern Rock. You do know Southern Rock was directly in the face of Country, Right? Country Music in the kingdom of Nashville never recognized them and they were a little tamer than Hair Metal. So man, Georgia Sattelites? Total Southern Rock. Jackyl? Total Hair Metal. But honestly it is about the music and the attitude and not geography.

Never considered Jackyl a "Hair Band" , even though they came out in that era. Jackyl is straight up a Rock and Roll band....always had been, always will be. That's why they are still putting out great music
@Logan-ed4pu2 жыл бұрын
I always considered the late 80s and early 90s to be a strange transition period. They had the long overly teased hair, but ditched the glam thing, and the music got considerably less campy. Bands like Guns N' Roses, Jackyl, Ugly Kid Joe, Ozzy's No More Tears Album, Metallica's Black Album, etc also served as the bridge from 80s hair metal to 90s grunge and alternative.
@kevinflaherty60282 жыл бұрын
They had more of a 70's southern rock vibe than eighties hair band,long hair but not teased or makeup.

Tesla and Jackyl were guys in metal bands with Long hair, but they weren’t hair metal per se. Tesla was more traditionally hard rock, and Jackyl is Southern Hard Rock imo.

I saw Jackyl open for Aerosmith at the old Memorial Aud in Buffalo, NY in Dec. of 1994, a week before my 18th birthday. The first concert I could drive myself to, and cram a bunch of my friends into my '82 Datsun 200sx RWD hatchback. It was snowing, we took the Skyway anyway. Slid that rustbucket sideways into the parking deck. I've seen Aerosmith a dozen times since then, but Jackyl was the most awesome opener...drinking out of Castrol GTX cans, shotgun strapped to the mike stand, and Jesse finished the Lumberjack song by chopping up the bar stool he'd been sitting on.

I've been listening to Jackyl from day one. And I've seen them live in 5 different states. The first time was in 2000 at Phenix Hill Tavern in Louisville KY. And I never forget that night because I was dating a Kentucky Bourbon Girl. And the Bourbon Girls were dancing on the stage with Jessie. And I can't believe I'm going to see Jackyl again in Louisville KY in November I think they will be in Louisville KY the 16th. But don't go by anything I'm writing. Because I'm high on Jessie James Jackyl Bourbon. Can't wait to see you live Jessie and I haven't forgotten about the signed Jackyl or Bourbon Hat. And I will get with you in KZbin notifications because I want to buy something.
