I love how at the end of the video when he's chatting about the harmonizer setup, you can tell Jacob is still emotionally engaged with what he just created. A chilling, humanizing song

This is infinitely better than his high production video the same song. So much more nuance and less high-prose harmonies that you need to search to find. Much more pleasing to the ear in general

And now I know where he gets his Idea of the Fish-eye-camera-Photo of his room - the front cover of his Album "in my room". He took that from Imogen Heaps Album "Speak for yourself". Its the Photo behind the CD. (This is also the Album with "Hide and Seek". So Imogen inspired Jacob not just only with this kind of Sound

From what I know thus far, Jacob's unofficial transcriber, June Lee, recognizes it as Jacob's favorite chord. June analyzes it in the beginning of his 2nd video of "Deciphering Jacob Collier". I also think June mentions it in another one of his videos, but I can't remember which.

havent checked the exact voicing in this vid but yeah that would work. 1, b3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, #15. Jacob uses that chord pretty sparingly but it does crop up and sounds amazing when he does. its in a few of his IharmU vids too. The vid where june explains it he uses blackbird as an example. I think its an Eminmaj13#15/G. CHUNKY and vast. all those notes clustered together but voiced in such a nice way. the strange thing is that you would have the 7, the root, the #15, the 9, then the b3. 5 semi tones all next to each other. pretty difficult to use appropriately hahaha but jacob does it justice of course

personally I'm more of a "chord progression" kind of dude. I think the movement of these complicated harmonies is how the feelings are really delivered. Like words to a story. (Jacob Collier loves to describe his music in this way). To me, seeing the word "death" is like hearing a single chord. But now imagine you have a chord right before it that says "mother's." Which is also why I exclusively use the term sinister as opposed to "dirty" or "nasty" when describing that progression. That being said, the chord was mean but I didn't feel like it tied all that well. Two of the most sinister chord progressions I've heard is: Jacob Collier & Becca Stevens - Each Coming Morning: 0:52 Jacob Collier - Danny boy - 2:04 + 3:55 + 4:08 (the most dense sinister chord I ever heard) I highly recommend checking them out!
