it’s astounding that they improvised this. it’s even more astounding that you can make sense of it, while also making it make sense to others.

AMEN! Feel soooo good to be able to have the receptors required to feel all that with our 3D restricted perceptions. Feel kinda weird saying that but for me, it feels like emotional tapestry. I never played any instrument but it makes myself being more complete and I genuinly want to extend my emotions by learning to play (yes, in like having fun!) and most of all....Feel it, so much more now. It's not even funny. Oh, I almost forgot. Merry Xmas to you all, whoever read those lines. It's all about perspective after all: we are alone, together. For a really really short while. Enjoy and please, please. Dare and risk making someone you don't know, smile. this could be called music too. ;)

Leon - you're doing the music community a great service. Truly phenomenal work. I love your approach to analysis which gives good depth and insights but doesn't get over encumbered with detail. The visual palate of white notes on a black b/g with analysis in bright colors is novel and refreshing, and what you do with the score - zooming in and out, jumping back and forth, highlighting and labeling key ideas as they occur - truly makes the music theory happening exciting and relevant. Keep this going, it's an excellent approach, and thank you for these great videos.

Ok, I know how to transcribe and analyze music, but how did you manage to pull off such a beautiful and concise animation of the stuff and notation? I'm genuinely curious what kind of animation software/s you are using to achieve such a spectacular presentation! You are my favorite music-related YT channel, btw.

Great visualization! As for the coincidences.. I don't think they play with "maybe a A lydian over F# would counterpoint his chromatic ideas" in mind... it´s more like "fuck yeah let's jam this shit!" :)

Since when was Gb problematic? It's not like you're constantly thinking about the name and accidental status of every note you play. They're just sounds, especially to guys with ears like there.

Sorry but the idea that Jacob was thinking of any part of this as being in Lydian seems insane to me lol like yes he spends a lot of time sitting on Eb and Gb chords but it's clearly in Bb (or maybe g minor) the entire time - the Gb stuff is just mode mixture. To argue otherwise is like saying Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" is actually in G Lydian instead of D major since there are so many more G chords than D chords.
