You are capable. We are all capable. "Keep in motion, Stay unspoken, When I'm broken, Keep me open." We just have to be open. Change starts with loving yourself, as you are. Your strengths AND weaknesses. After that, you will see there is no difference, from you and me. Only parts of a whole, sent to be. You have all the tools you need within. So what's stopping you? Begin.

Lorelei well done for putting that out there. I've been in the blackest of holes and music always pulls me out. Don't feel bad for feeling bad was what a friend said to me once and I've always carried that statement with me. I remind myself that I am going to feel bad sometimes and that's not a true reflection of my complete person but only the depressed and anxious person that rears its head sometimes. I am more valuable than my anxious and depressive moments. Much care and love from the UK Jay ☺️

The way I interpret this song - and I could be completely wrong - is that it takes you on the wave of emotions that comes with falling in love, and wanting to lose control and go wild with this person (perhaps physically, but also in a life-adventure type of way). Falling in love in its purest sense is something so ecstatic and wild and joyous - there's the excitement of physical intimacy, the excitement this person gives you in your heart and mind, the joy it is to be loved by someone. They bring on the "butterflies in your stomach" kind of jitters, they bring this new adventure of learning about them and exploring life with them, the joy of holding their hand, being intimate, dancing with them. As someone who has had the fortune of falling in love with an amazing woman recently, I can attest to this personally. The vast differences in sections of this song speak to the different things love does to us - the unknown, the thrill, etc. What strikes me most about this interpretation is the ending (4:46). It goes from this wild, eclectic arrangement to a much simpler, solemn refrain. To me, it sounds like a request: "Keep in motion, stay unspoken. If I'm broken, keep me open." It hit me as a realization of your sense of vulnerability - that as much as you don't want to admit it and you just want to have things keep moving along as they have been (keep in motion, stay unspoken) - that's not all love is. The more you are with this person, the more they will see you - the REAL you. You will share in your deepest joys with them, the confusion and fun of not knowing how to make the relationship work but you'll do it anyway... but you will also share in your brokenness. To keep love of any kind alive, you have to be open despite the mess. Perhaps not a totally "accurate" interpretation, but after reviewing the lyrics and listening multiple times, musically and thematically this is how it made me feel. Thanks for reading if you made it this far :) more importantly, enjoy Jacob Collier's outstanding musical arrangements. A true class act.

love. I remember a video from lianne la habas had a very similar picture, looking yourself at a broken mirror and suddenly watching everything clear. I have had this moments too, everyone really, when you just "get it" and could not be more simple, its a manic sensation, just like pure love and extasis at once but all comes to an end, and you shatter... nothing is like it used to be. "Keep in motion, stay unspoken. If I'm broken, keep me open." hits me as a prayer to move on even if you are shattered, because frankly we all are.

His music gives you the feeling that it was made by a person who just likes to have fun with sound and see what comes out of it. Can't imagine where this kid is going to be in 10 years. I just hope he does not get sidetracked by all the distractions that come with fame because his future sure looks bight.

An interpretation. Only one of many possible interpretations. Imagine endeavoring to seek inside yourself for that special elusive "something," you know, the storied "thing that was inside you all along"? 0:20 Discovering that there is such a thing as "inside yourself" 0:35 Catching that first glimpse of that "elusive something" 0:48 Initially, when you see it, you just follow it and enjoy the journey. You feel whole, for a moment. 1:27 What was a saunter now becomes a run. It becomes less about the journey, and more about finding that "thing," wondering what it is, and how to fully grasp it. 2:16 [For the record, the "somebody" he/she needs to understand his soul doesn't have to be a person. It could be a "thing."] The chase feels good. As it should. Because you feel active. You feel like you have a goal. Often, people feel like they have a purpose just because they happen to be actively doing something. Even if it's not necessarily the right thing to do. 2:19 You love the chase, but things aren't really quite right around you. You're sacrificing your normalcy for the sake of the chase. It doesn't really matter to you, but to the rest of life around you, it's bothersome. Things start going crazy. To you, it's banality that's being disrupted, so you don't care. But to the universe around you, it's stability that's being disturbed. And it's an unworthy sacrifice. 2:54 The thing you're chasing leads you to the funk. After all, it should all lead to the funk. The groove. The sweet spot. 3:19 Stability? Who gives a crap anymore? I found the funk! 3:52 It feels good, but you can't stay in the funk forever. So, again, the journey takes a back seat. Again, it's all about the "thing." And now, finally, it's within reach. You lunge out to grab it, 4:40, and when you do, it shatters your psyche. Everything you've ever known about everything is turned on its head. The thing that was supposed to be your saving grace shatters your own stability. 4:46 So now you're left with nothing. No security. No simplicity. Just shattered remains of what once was. You do have a voice. Which doesn't sound so bad in theory, but imagine having a voice with nothing to say. You have the means to express what you feel, but not enough understanding to make it make sense to anyone. Hence, the shattered face with only the mouth lit up. 4:46 So what do you do when you can't talk about what you're going through? You "Keep in motion, stay unspoken." You just keep living. Keep being. And hope, that even with this new discovery, this new way of life, things will eventually start to fall in place and make sense again. 5:38 The experience you have gone through will never be as palpable to others as it was to you. So now, you're left to rationalize what's going on "inside yourself" with the life you live on the "outside." They'll never know, but you'll never forget it. 6:41. Cheers to the chase, Djesse.

a huge chunk of the chorus and even the slow jam is in 4/4, its just the beginning and some bridge parts that are using polyrhythms

I'm starting to think Djesse is the invisible essence of life itself and Jacobs love songs are actually about god/the universe/the tao/ the higher self/ whatever you wanna call it.

I love this song. It gets real deep after the glass shattering snare shot. That last section is so vulnerable and honest. Every time I get to that section, the lyrics speak different meanings, paint different pictures, and evoke different emotions. Your music is many things in life, Jacob. So beautiful and brilliant. Thank you. Keep in motion Stay unspoken If I'm broken Keep me open
