Just heard the amazing story of your journey on Snap Judgement. You have such a tremendous story to tell. I’m in awe of your fortitude. Shout out to speech therapists who believed you were in there and came in after you. I imagine your mother whispering in your ear all along the way.

@@miraclman31 it’s like she has been extending all the possibilities she can see from (…wherever ) and offering you a mainline to ‘Source’. I see that. And now your training wheels are coming off and you are pedaling off under your own force to live. And what a fantastic team you must have, seen and unseen.

Jacob, sheer determination, perseverance and tenacity - plus medical expertise and family support, undoubtedly - have got you here. I admire you hugely. There is no stopping you. I am sure you are providing hope to many, many people. Thank you for these videos - I only found you a little earlier today. I imagine it takes considerable effort to speak clearly as you do - something taken for granted by most of us. Keep fighting. We shall continue watching. 😊

As a former neuro nurse- I enjoyed learning about your story! I subscribed and look forward to seeing updates. I always treated my seemingly unconscious patients like they were conscious and would have conversations with them. Sometimes their vital signs would slightly react and I would interpret that as a response. The brain really is the final frontier of medicine and you never really know what’s going on up there! My coworkers thought I was a little fruity for talking to my patients like I did- but I didn’t care- my patients always were my main concern and I felt like if it gave them any comfort to hear a friendly voice it was worth it.

I'm so happy I stumbled upon your story, Jake. I heard it on Snap Judgment and was very touched by it and can relate to some of it. I just finished reading The Unearthed Soul which talks about identifying who we are, that "who", that is inside. Singer writes, "I am the one who sees. From back in here somewhere, I look out, and I am aware of the events, thoughts, and emotions that pass before me." I wish you continued progress. You are a blessing to us all.

As a medical student all the way from the Caribbean, your story inspires me to make sure to always think of patients as human beings first, to never forget about the person inside. It’s also a reminder that we can’t lose hope even in the face of scary diseases like the one you had. We’re so glad to have you here with us, and that you’ve had the strength to fight through this. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
