I remember finding this song roughly 5 years ago, when I wanted to take my own life, playing it on repeat and helping me greatly for many different reasons. Almost 5 years later, after a long journey and finding my way back, I find this song once more, so I will say now what I couldn't say then...thank you Jacob. Within this song not only you conveyed emotions I couldn't put in words back then when I was barely a boy, but your art gave me some much needed clarity and relief. Among the many artists that exist today, and those that are yet to come, you will always incomparably stand out to me for the artist that you are and for what you did back then, you helped me, and for that, I will always be grateful to you. This particular song has been a source of inspiration and support for me. In 2020, I faced a lot of challenges including depression, leaving my job, and discovering that my 5-year relationship was built on lies. Both versions of this song came to me at just the right moment. when it seems that everything is over, or the demons have captured me and will soon defeat me. a year ago I broke up with my boyfriend; I had a very problematic relationship with him that brought me a lot of troubles in later life. this song suits us very well... he released my demons, found out all my secrets and then told everything to strangers who shouldn’t have known what I had kept deep within myself for a long time. Now I understand that if he had not released these demons, they would have remained inside me. I found this song a few years after I left a 8 year marriage full of domestic violence that almost cost me my life. Finding it again from where i stand today makes me appreciate the beauty even more profoundly. I now work at a shelter for other women and children whom have fled from abusers and are both healing and starting over with nothing. It's crazy that you can hear a song but not grasp the entirety of it until you are in the position to do so. I have been struggling with all kinds of demons, from addiction to mental issues. It's funny that the lies I tell myself have more truth to them than the words said by the people around me.
