how many chain would i need to make this blanket for a single bed ?

In looking back at other Jacob's Ladder afghans I made, it looks like I chained 212 using an I hook and the 10 dc, 10 ch, 10 dc sequence. The finished ghans were between 40-45" wide which would probably do for a twin bed. There are 10 ladder (cable) sections and 11 dc sections. Then continue until it is the length you need. Hope that helps.

Louise, I truly don't remember which yarn it was but looking at it I think it is probably several different manufacturers. Red Heart Super Saver and I Love This Yarn most likely.
