If I may, I would like to share my story as I am struggling with my faith, and I desperately don't want to... I grew up in a very Christian and God worshipping household. My parents raised both my brother and I to know the Lord and to love him through everything. Even when things didn't go the way I would have hoped, I never turned my back or if I did walk away, it wasn't for very long. I always found my way back to Jesus. But this last January, I lost my Dad who had been hospitalized for 3 weeks since December 27 due to illness. At first, we were told he wasn't going to make it, but as the days passed, we were given good news and even told he could be woken up at any point. Then something happened because of a mistake the nurses working with him made and it completely changed the outcome. I prayed with my family constantly and I held this complete confidence almost as if I was sure that God was going to heal my Dad. But that didn't happen. This is the greatest loss I have ever felt and the pain while numb now, has and most likely will never leave me. My Dad was the greatest Christian man I have ever known personally and he always held faith through everything. He shared the teachings of the gospel to everyone and led so many people to the Lord. He was the best and I feel ashamed of myself for walking so far away from God. I have never been so far away in my life but parts of me feel betrayed by how sure I was that God was telling me that my Dad was going to be alright. I'm 27 and I know God has a plan for everyone, but I never thought we would lose him the way we did. I feel selfish and I hate it because I know people have gone through so much and still keep their faith. I don't want to be away from God but I'm just so hurt. I'm not sure what to do or how to heal from this. That's all I wanted to say.

God really did mean it when He said your dad was gonna be alright because your dads suffering ended and is in heaven now. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between really wanting something and believing that it’s gonna happen, and a God assured sign. We just have to trust in His plan because it’s always better than anything we could ask for

I'm so sorry for your loss it sounds like he was a wonderful man, and a great father. I lost my great uncle to lung cancer and visited him just hours before he passed, and I was devastated he was a good listener, and even when he was on the brink of dying he still cared dearly for his family's well-being, he was always so happy when I saw him, and I miss him dearly. I always questioned why he was taken so soon and eventually God gave me my answer he takes the most wonderful, amazing, and beautiful people to live with him first just as we take the most beautiful flowers from our gardens. I remember after losing family members two cardinals began to visit my family and I every morning, and one day in my backyard when I found myself missing my grandfather and great grandmother flocks of birds surrounded me the cardinals who always visited as well as mocking birds, blue jays, and finches. It felt like God was trying to tell me everything was going to be ok, and I remember one morning my mom came to me, and told me she dreamed of a beach, and she saw the babies she lost all together with my grandfather and great grandmother. Loss is hard, and doesn't go away but we find ways to bear the heartbreak, and the promise of seeing our loved ones again can strengthen us, and bring us together stay strong your father is with you now, and forever and God is with you even when you feel distant even when you feel like he isn't with you he's there. He's there through your good days, and bad days. Days you laugh, and days you cry he will never abandon you or give up on you I wish you the best, and hope you can find the strength through your hard times God bless you.🙏💕

The thing is slingshoters were a special war unit in that time. And everyone who wasn't working in the military back then had a normal job like farmer or shepherd. So maybe this is the story of a special unit soldier in disguise who killed a great warrior. Or he was chosen because he was a well trained soldier

you forget, the sling WASN'T solely a military weapon. sure the military USED them, but slings were a common tool that required little skill or materials to make and slings were often used by farmers and shepherds to scare off predators and hunt small game. during this time it would have been common to give your kids slings, bows, etc as "toys" in order to learn practical skills they could use to help around the farm. while the slingers in the military were well trained, they were usually long range artillery units firing in overheard group volleys, whereas a shepherd would have more occasion to practice medium range direct shots for accuracy chasing jackals away from the goats, scaring birds away from the grain fields, hunting small animals etc. it's likely David grew up with a sling in his hand almost since he learned to walk. Considering goliath's size advantage and reputation, and that this encounter was a one on one at medium range, David probly realized goliath would rip him in half like a phone book if he got ahold of him, but figured he was accurate enough he could drop goliath before goliath could close the gap.

Speaking as a slinger, if you used a sling solely for military purposes, there’s no point in being accurate if there’s thousands of other rocks going in the same direction. You can’t miss if you make a giant wall of rocks. Alternatively, if you were a shepherd, doing shepherd things you get bored or have to defend your flock from predators. That means you HAVE to think about where you shoot.
