The echo is still noticeable. There is a difference of mostly on the high frequencies which were significantly cut , I feel like the mic low end was more. Well, you still need to treat your room

Best video on these foam balls I've seen. Many of the other videos I've seen did unhelpful sloppy tests. Thanks for putting thought into this video!

Very helpful video, I can still hear the room but the ambiance was reduce slightly but your voice sounded much fuller and better with ball on the mic.

I appreciate you asking us for our opinion, but it was annoying that you didn't give yours... I came here for a review, not necessarily a demo. Thank you for making the video but please also share your thoughts as well in the future.

I mean you have ears too (you should, if you’re interested in an audio related product like this)…

In my opinion it made some difference but the resonance is still recognizable

I mean it makes a little difference, the room was still present .I suppose with a little post, say something like RX de reverb, or maybe Sonible proximity+ you could really tone down the reflections. As you said it would work best in the kind of environment that newbies with untreated rooms commonly have. Would it work better with a mic with really low noise floor?

I think the room would still be present, in the room I shot in the walls are pretty bare, if you're going to go this route I'd use it in conjunction with some sort of treatment on the walls, whether it's foam, blankets, etc

also for recording singing, people will be much louder. Barely a difference in a regular speaking volume, I can imagine how much more transperant it would be if someone was belting something out in a church. One of life's little lessons, you get what you pay for...$90 doesn't get you much if anything. The only filter I've noticed that really makes a difference is the Aston halo. I beleive there is a fairly definitive test on youtube somewhere.

Take this thing into a garage, or a church and do a comparison. I am doing alot more mobile recording nowadays and i usually end up recording vocals in bigger rooms. If this thing can dry that up i'll grab one!

2 year update? It sounds obviously better to me. Ignoring the online haters spewing everything about these products using my ear it just seems like foam effects the same way the sm7b gets it and dynamic mics. It kinda makes it feel more full and butter. I’m a fan of that slight smoothing cause it feels more like a voice and less brittle highs from the space & high end. I’ve watched countless videos of that MC channel doing cyphers on rooftops and everyone uses the kaotica outside and it sounds fire. Kaotica- Gunna used it on his album in Jamaica, Kanye has used it, Dre has it in a studio. Young boys mixing engineer used it with Townsend L22 and the isosphere option to mitigate for it as well.

I can hear a slight difference. I would rather buy the alctron pf8 or pf8 pro which range from 30 to 70 bucks

I have heard from several users that the difference between this and the pf8 is significantly in the benefit of the comet.

Jacob! Great video. You got me as a subscriber. Question. Do you think the comet would fit on my akg c214? I have no doubt it would fit in the hole, but I’m wondering if the thickness at the base is too much, as was the case with the alctron pf8 I bought. I ended up buying a seperate mic - mxl v97g to use with the alctron. Let me know man. Thank you!

It should fit, I think most mics will work unless it's like the SM7B or a podcast style mic, welcome aboard!

Sounds like shit honestly. All it did was add a lot of bottom and cancel out just a touch of the room.

The iconic mars comet is a foam piece of SHIT!! I noticed on a few youtube videos about this crap, the people are ALREADY in a quiet studio environment. So i bought this shit and put it in my bedroom with a brand new sterling sp150 microphone.I recorded a commercial voice over and i hear the dead ass 9 volt battery chirps of my old smoke alarms that are about 20 feet away!!!! And I hear cars passing by on the damn street and I live on the SECOND FLOOR in my building! This is a $99 piece of bullshit!!!
@sangremal

the front of the mic is still open to the room, it only uses a pop filter. this is not for blocking out sound, it's so you can filter out the reflections bouncing back from the walls in your room.
Do those Eyeball thingies work??
